Well, now that Choco 2 is dead, we're gonna have to have a new RP to obsess over. And even if Bunni is currently dead, it'll shoot back up when Bunni 2 comes out. So when it does burst back to life -- what do you guys like/want in an RP? Please, please go into detail. Because if you all can state your ideal RPs then we could probably come up with something that we could keep going for a while.

Pretty good idea for a thread, some brainstorming for future RP's would be nice. I think an important aspect of an RP is either a captivating Story or World. Those are the two things that can keep people in an RP, wanting to know how the story goes or to learn more about the world, especially when they're very interesting/unique Ideas.
I think another necessary thing is some rules for combat. You need this to avoid situations where people refuse to be hit by others and battles just become absurd.

On the same topic though, What are peoples opinions on a Turn-Based-Battle system, with stats and everything? The reason im asking this is I've almost finshed an RP idea and I am currently trying to balance a battle system with unique Classes/Abilites/etc. and I'd be very curious to peoples opinion on this

Agreed with Ivernus. RP's need to have a story or plot to keep them interesting. If you expect to have a successful rp you need an engaging plot or idea and/or a very creative world. The world you create can often make or break an rp.

A good example of how engaging worlds are successful can be seen in avatar. Even though the story was really generic, the world was so immersive that the story hardly mattered because you were too distracted with the peripheral things. Even though this example is of a movie and a completely different genre to text based rp's it shows that having a well-thought out world can often be just as vital as having a well thought out story.

Yea, that is probably why most RPs just fail within like 3 days of being made. They need a good story that someone will want to read and be able to follow along with the other characters without getting lost or misunderstanding things. So, in shorter terms, it needs to have an easy to understand story just the simple rising action, climax, and falling action. Same as books, but in an RP it can be repetitive and start again after a small amount of the falling action.

But on a point more along what Mii was thinking, I don't really have an idea, but before you start an RP you need to build a plot...not just puke up one real quick, hoping it will be fun. Wow, that sounds weird, but accurate... XD

Honestly I'm doubtful of Bunni 2's release at this moment. Andre's probably working on his other game.

I agree with Crazy, Ivernus, and Screw. We need a good story, with battles that will last 3 pages at most. And none of that dodging. We should have a set number of dodges, such as 2 per battle. 2 counters, 3 blocks, and 2 dodges. People should also post shortly and to the point, to save time.

I disagree, longer posts mean more content can be put into them, and it also means people don't post spam posts like "character takes out item". Longer posts in an rp are hundreds of times better than short meaningless posts, because longer posts can add a lot more description about the situation and the character/character's thoughts/character's actions. It also helps create that immersive world where you can input what kind of environment you have going on in your mind.

I think a good idea for conversations where there will be alot of small replies is, if possible, get togehter with the other person your talking to on MSN/EMail and plan out the conversation first, so you can join it all together and have 1 reply rather than like 10 short ones.
As for an RPG RP...My idea for its nearing completition....Balancing the Battle System is all that remains and...well its taking much longer than planned. If people are interested in an RPG RP though, I could do a much simplier one just to see how people like it and ideas they could suggest on what could be used to make it better.

Another question worth asking is, what kind of things do you like/hate in an RP?

Er...I meant in battles. I'm sorry x.X; I wasn't specific enough

About that RPG RP, are you talking about an RP with RPG features, or an RP where we create a game and follow the posts to see what would happen?

I'm assuming an ATB gauge wouldn't fit in with a text based turn battle system. It would be cool for a sort of flash app where you loaded in what stats you had at the start and it would take you to a battle thingy. I'm not good at explaining things :X

And yes, I think we should have some battles with RPG features or maybe in an RPG format style.

Lol, Bunni. My older brother's name is Richard also. And also, the Rps COULD be alive, still. All we just need is to focus more on the rping, and making things more- exciting and fun, thats all. Especially of the more "detailing" of brainstorming what the rp would end and start with, right? You can at least plan something that'll start in the beginning that makes sense instead of- doing whatever you want? And in the end, maybe someone dies, or, survives. Am i right? .. >3>

Well yeah when I talk about the RPG Rp, i mean an RP with an RPG battle system of sorts (obviously not an ATB guage as that wouldn't make much sense, but a turn-by-turn battle system with stats/abilities/exp/etc. all that stuff). As i've said, I do have a workable battle system worked out so if people would be interested in experimenting with the idea, I can get an rp for it out rather quickly

Or we could remake old roleplays.

Well,I fail in Roleplays but,eh i'll try. What about a Roleplay that seems to fit an old Anime show but,a different story.Like, say your trying to make a roleplay matching Yumeria say that a main person for the story has no life and one night wishes for a role in life so later that person has dreams to save the future.Say this person brings partners in the dream world, yet they fight at first but get along later and you meet others later randomly based on if the future will be horrible or good. But,the person who wished for a role in life has a power to give others great skills say as in you pat someone on the back and you want them to have powers then they transform into a battle suit with a special weapon or gear.Yet,later as you go on there could be two stories to the tale of this person one could end horrible and the future is tooken over by monsters trying to break into the real world from the dream world,or you could defeat all things trying to make you lose. Then when you defeat all things you lost all the given memory and later they all come back but then youu know you want you family and freinds back you yell at monsters that have returned. Then they hear your call and then they help you finish it all and everything goes back to normal.
