If you click on an item immediately after placing it on the ground, you can then place it again. You will not see the item attached to your cursor, but when you release in a valid location a copy will appear.

This does not work with some items, such as fruit trees, bunnies, foxes, and primary buildings; however mines, lumber mills, hills, trees, and poppies can be used.
