They would have had to have done a full system restore, which would put your computer right back to original default settings.

I had to do this last year because of a couple of viruses that I got from downloads... lol... It's good if you have a backup drive or something to avoid the problem from happening again. Save all your important stuff onto a removeable hard drive or a backup drive or a USB thing, that way if you get another virus you can save all the goodies. That's what I did, so I didn't lose everything :)

But yea if you download anything scan it before you open it with an antivirus. Also don't visit unsafe sites or click on ads or links at the sides of pages or else you could find yourself with a virus. And remember to keep your antivirus up to date and your firewall ON =D

On Firefox, open the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks), and then pick the Export option from the File menu.

Screw's advice is really good here - backups really help! Once a year or so, I burn DVDs from static content like installers, documents, pics etc. and use a thumbdrive for stuff that changes frequently (eg. game saves).

I too learned the lessons the hard way, when my old laptop's harddrive got corrupted beyond repair. Lots of things got lost, but life goes on. I hope you'll have better luck, Amy. :)
