Bunni Island Wars! Durnam

If you haven't made a character sheet in the main Bunni Island War's thread please do so, this is where you roleplay on Durnam Island.


Durnam: One of the largest of the islands, it's shores are wide and hard to protect though it's lands have many resources like gold and ironwood trees. It's home to the delectable pear trees. The northern shore is covered in rocks but all other sides are easily attacked, the pioneers should rush to build defenses if they wish to stay at Durnam. This is the northernmost island. This island would be a great trade island, it holds the most valuable resources and holds the greatest value. This island is home to the Kirn, a cousin to the Owl, this tropical bird makes a great scout.


Durnam: North has high rocks, kinda like mountains, long beaches on all other sides, and it's like an oddly shaped O, Largest island. (Tropical Island)

Herbs on Durnam:

Purple means found on Durnam
Green means found on other islands (mostly Vuu, Mk you made too many on Vuu)
Blue means it needs water


Argunaut Root: A completely blue, rare root. These roots are considerably thick. They are found under the Argunaut trees, which have a remarkably green trunk, its found on Durnam and Jersun.

Foal Root: These skinny Beige roots can be found on all islands, the Foal Bush is one of the most common bushes around.

Gola Leaves: Light green leaves with random triangle indents in their shape, they grow on bushes found in Vuu, Durnam, and Hemil.

Heaber Leaf: This red leaf is found on the Heaber tree, the Heaber tree is remarkably, well, red. Its trunk is a dark red along with its branched. This tree and its medicinal leaves can be found on all islands but Befin.

Loa Shroom: Big blue mushrooms with a single red dot at the center of it's cap. The Loa shroom is found on Vuu Durnam and Jersun.

Qein Shroom: Ingredient of Calm, found commonly on all islands.

Werin Seaweed: Ingredient of Calm, found on all coasts, water.

Healing

Burns: The Gola Leaf, found on Vuu, Durnam, and Hemil, mixed with water creates a paste that can be spread on Burns, after about a day, depending on the strength of the burn, it should heal.

Paralyze: This potion cures people from paralyzation. It is made with Heaber Leaf, Derin Leaf, and half of a cup with water. The Heaber leaf is found on all islands but Befin and the Derin Leaf is found on Vuu and Befin.

Calm: This drink cures Berserk and gets rid of the effects of an energy drink. It's made with Werin Seaweed, found on all coasts, water, and the Qein Shroom, found commonly on all islands.

Cuts: The Heaber leaf, ground up and put on a cut soothes the pain and helps it heal faster. The Heaber Leaf is found on all islands but Befin.

Confusion: This will get rid off the affects of confusion, drink it to get rid of the affects. You mix the Rea Leaf, Gola Leaf, and water. The Rea Leaf is found on Vuu, and Jersun. The Gola Leaf is found on Vuu, Durnam, and Hemil.

Miscellaneous

Energy: This drink will make you perked up and seem full of energy, good for drinking in the morning. It's a mix of the Foal Root and Water. The Foal Root is found on All islands, the Foal Bush is one of the most common bushes around.

Sleep: This drink will make you sleepy, it's a mix of the Loa Shroom, found on Vuu Durnam and Jersun, and water.

Strength: This is made from the Wain Herb, mostly found on Vuu, and the Bertle Shroom, found on Vuu. This herb will give you full strength for 15 minutes. Animals protect these kind of herbs. Which is why people don't commonly carry this concoction. It's mainly used by pandas.

Poisons

Confuse: This concoction can either be drank or thrown on a person's head, it will soak in, though this technique doesn't work as well. It's a mix of Argunaut Root, found on Durnam and Jersun, and the Ero Leaf, found only on Vuu, and water.




Resources

Rocks/Mine

Erea Stone: The weakest stone, it breaks easily but can be found on All islands but Jersun. It's light though and can be used in parts of ships. This stone if found on all islands but Jersun.

Dui Stone: This stone isn't too strong but not too weak, this stone is one of the most commonly used stones. It's only found on Befin, Durnam, and Hemil.

Deria Stone: This is the strongest stone, it's heavy though and hard to move, Only contraptions or Panda workers can lift these rocks. This is found on Befin and Durnam.

Copper: An economic stone used as currency, 10 pieces of these are equal to a silver piece, and 100 of these are equal to gold. These are used between common folk and the poor, used to buy food and clothing. Found on Befin, Hemil, Durnam, and Vuu.

Silver: An economic stone used as currency. About 10 of these is equal to a gold piece. Used by common folk and some royals, used to buy fine clothing and expensive food. This stone if found on Hemil, Befin, and Durnam.

Gold: This is a economic stone, used as currency or trade, usually used by rich folk this is used to buy things we don't really need, or big ships, houses, etc. This stone if found on Befin and Durnam

Diamond: This is an economic stone used to pay by royals. it holds more value than gold, about 20 gold per diamond. These diamonds are used in jewelry. This stone is very rarely found on Durnam

Crystals: Economic stones like emeralds, rubies and others, about 15 gold. This stone is very rarely found on Befin or Durnam

Wood

Freap Tree: This wood is the weakest, found on all islands.

Maple Tree: This wood is a pretty average strengthed material, but the tree is commonly known for the maple that can be taken from it, found on Durnam, Jersun, and Hemil.

Ironwood Tree: This wood is primarily used in ships, it floats but is almost as strong as stone, this is the strongest wood on the five islands, it can only be found on Durnam and Jersun.


Durnam

Desert Areen: A docile cousin of the jungle Areen, it's a herbivore. It's back no longer has spikes and it's fairly larger. With stronger legs this Desert Areen is capable of holding much weight and could serve as a mount.

Dedian Scorp: This small scorpion is a sneaky bugger, the deadlist scorpian of all but the smallest. Luckily for Durnam dwellers, they're also the rarest. The scorpion's hard shell makes it hard to crush with your feet but it's muscles are not strong so if you're daring enough you can grab it by the tail quickly, disabling it's stinger.

Skraun: This bird is the melody of the forests, it's melodic tune can be heard from all around. The bird is a vibrant red and yellow but it's fast. The bird is a herbivore, about the size of an owl though. At birth the bird is one fourth its size, it grows quite a lot.

Tunina: The Tunina is a large desert badger. The badger has sharp teeth and large claws compared to its body. The badger digs under the sand and sleeps during the day and comes out at night. It's got short yellow-brown fur and a white line on its back for even more resistance against the sun.

Arvat: The cousin of the Vefein, it is another cat that lives among the mountains. This feline has two tails and longer muscular legs than the Vefein. Theres a myth saying the Arvat's legs are so strong that it can jump from mountain to mountain. The arvat is brown and shares a similair face to the Vefein though its tail has a piece of its spine sticking out, looking much like a spike.

Air Feather: A small bird with colorful feathers. Its nickname is: Bird of the Rainbow, or Forest's rainbow. If you think it's some random animal that is harmless, think again. It only hurts the people who attack the animals of the forest or the forest itself. It mostly lurks around in the Frontier Forest. When a group of Air Feathers come together, they form a real rainbow. Most of the birds love their feathers. Children keep them as pets. The bird's can let out large screeches that get louder as they age. The Air Feathers are known to form flocks and blow air at enemies with their large wings.

Redemption Tooth: A white tiger with red or black stripes. If it's a female, it's stripes are red; though if it's a male, it has black stripes. If it is a female with black stripes, it means that it's to become a dominant female or, 'queen'. Same with the male, if it's stripes turn red it's to become a dominant male or, 'king'. It lurks in all places of Durnam, but are extremely rare and hard to tame. Most elders tell their grandchildren folk tales about the Redemption Tooth. It's diet is mainly fish.

We landed on the island from the east on a broken rowboat. There was a forest to the south and mountains to the north."On this island there's no one here,"I told my crew. We started camp and proceeded to cut wood to make some huts. After a couple days we started to dig in the hills. OOC:Yeah no one here. Anyone?

Well you just came to the island, have you built anything yet?

Well I built a 2-story house, but my crew suddenly died. Also, a sawmill and an unfinished mine.

Lol, your all alone on the island, don't worry, Durnam isn't a lifeless place, just about every island has. . . monkeys.

[Mkishere]

Durnam:
You hear monkey calls in the forest, they're getting nearer and nearer, a beetle scuttles across your feet and dissapears in the underbrush.

(Once huggyboo gets the durnam map done we can pinpoint where your settlement it :D.)

Wait was that what we ate the other day?

Well my crew had to eat some meat and there was a body with a tail on the ground .......

Durnam:

You feel a stick hit your head, a monkey threw it at you, it laughs from the tree tops.

[MonsterMiner]

We cut down those trees. Though there were too many.

((There are still trees left, whats your reaction to the monkey?))

I quickly got a rock and threw it at the monkey. Which missed, so I threw a couple more.

"Where am i?" i asked myself while rather the rocks from my bag while they are scattered around me. Sean than sees a panda throwing rocks at a monkey in the trees. He walks over to see what he is doing.

"Help me hit that monkey, he threw a branch at me" I said.

The monkey throws another stick at the man.

The monkey throws a stick at me. "Hey! ok i will try and hit it". I walk away and try to hit it with a few of my rocks in my bag.

The monkey ducks in the trees and all the rocks miss, it jumps to the ground and sticks its tongue out at you both.

"Stupid monkey!" I pull out my wand and fires a small flame at it.

[Mkishere]

The monkey's tail gets burnt and it jumps back into the forest running away.

(I thought you were a panda, they can't cast magic, only bunnies can.)

"All right!" i shouted, i turn to the panda." hey, what is your name?"

OOC:They disappeared because it would be boring to have a crew with no one on the island , so I decided not to have a crew any more.

"Your a magician, right? Then help me with starting a fire in the fireplace." I said

"Yes i am a magician. And sure, i will help you. Lets get back to your house than." i step back, letting frank lead the way.

"Here we are, your room is the second door the right upstairs." I said.

"Thank you frank" I walk upstairs to my room. There is a bed, a chair and a small desk. I lay my books on it and look out the window ....

I went outside and proceeded to dig in the unfinished mine.

I shouted, "Do you need any help with that?"

"No I'm fine, it's almost finished." I said.
OOC: Should i make one crewmember alive again?

OOC: Hmmm maybe if some1 else signs up for this. We ask if they want to join our crew? XD Or we travel to a different island ... but that would mean this thrend dies .... and i dont mind really O_o

"Ok, no problem." I sat down on the chair and opened a magic book. I started to read how to make the tip of my wand glow. I thought this would be useful later on.

"Time to go to sleep"i said, while closed my book over. I got up, and when over to my bed and went to sleep. I thought how nice frank was being to me, and that i should try and repay him tomorrow. And that was my first day on Durnam.

OOC: By the way we are at the northern tip of Ironwood Forest. The mine we are digging is in the mountains nearby.

Alright, Crazy is going to join the roleplay, so if you want him to come to Durnam, reply to his character sheet when he makes it, but he can go to Vuu too, they have two people there, and Jersun has like 1.

I woke up at around sunrise and i heard something scream in the forest. It looks like it could be someone or something in danger. I will go check it out if frank is awake and we will go out. Also, we should start building a boat or raft to go around the island or go to other islands cos i dont think we can survive on what we have now and with only two people .... monsters could be on this island too.

"For now I have only met monkeys," I told Sean

"Let's go check out the scream," I said while walking in the direction of the scream.

"Ok than, hopefully its just a monkey and not someone in pain." I ran out with my wand and bag of rocks."Hey, do you know if any herbs go on this island? could come in handy later on i guess." and we started walking towards the scream.

"There are a couple herbs though I don't know the names of them." I said as we finally got the the animal that was making the screams.

"Its the monkey from earlier. I guess i burned it badly at the tail." I walked over to the monkey to see how badly burned it was.

(Let's eat it, no wait that would be a bad idea) "Maybe we can train the monkey to mine for us." I said.

"Probley .... but at the moment, its in no condition to mine yet, we can start training him tomorrow maybe. His wounds should be ok in the morning. And also, should we start building a boat to visit the other islands? or should we wait for more people to show up here?"

"Let's wait if tomorrow there is no one then we will leave," I said.

Mining monkeys aren't just make-believe. In Thailand they train monkeys to get coconuts. Though it will be harder to make them mine.

"Ok. I got a few maps back the the house so hopefully a few of them show these islands and seas." I said while lifting up the monkey and walking back to camp.

"Look there's another monkey in the trees." I threw a rock at it. Jersun has no one, it would be the same as before. Anyway I'm trying to get people to come here.

"It probley thinks we are trying to kidnap his friend or something." I layed the monkey on the ground and tried to say, "We arent here to fight or kidnap, we are going to heal him." The monkeys didnt listen.

"NOO monkey come back we need more slav, I mean workers." I yelled.

After i rolled my eyes to the heavens. I grabbed the monkey and patted frank on the back as we made our way back to camp.

OOC: can we just move island now? or atleast start building a boat, if more people come we can say the monkeys stole it :eek:

When we went back to camp I started using the ironwood from before(my crew disappeared)and was building a boat.

"Have you got enough wood to make the bottom of the raft?" I asked looking over franks shoulder.

"I'm making a boat not a raft, also could you get some more wood and iron for me." I said.

"Alright alright, umm sure i will get them than." I walked over to the mine and at the entrance was a pile of iron parts."I will get your wood in a bit, here is some iron." I dropped it next to frank and walked off into the forest.


OOC: What does iron look like?

I depends I think it looks metallic, but that's when its been refined. You have to bring the rocks to the refinery, then it will turn shiny.

The 'Long Path of Twilight' was a low ship, carrying few Bunnis but travelling at a swift pace.
Weryl looked up, admiring the sail as it billowed in the wind. A crewman jogged up to the bow and handed Weryl a long, thin rod of steel. Peering into it, the paladin could barely make out the dark outline of the island of Darnum.
The crewman smiled at Weryl as he returned the looking glass.
"You can't see for sure yet, but the island's beautiful." The bunni looked wistfully in the direction of the island, "When I washed up there as a lad I was awed by the majesty of the creatures. You may not see it yet, but you are lucky to be gifted with this expedition. Grandpa Bunni knows that the other island are far, far worse."
Weryl grinned in return, patting the older crewman on the back, "It better be. Because if we wash up and it doesn't live up to the tall tales you've been telling the crew we're going to run out of rum far faster than we want to."
The Bunnis chuckled and looked in the distance at their new home.

A short distance behind the 'Long Path of Twilight'

Another ship followed. A ship that carried around it an aura of evil. This boat had been painted the same color of the see, making it harder for non-magi to notice. So as it slowly gained on the paladin ship, it was noticed until it was far too late.

"Aye, how much treasure did you say was on this here boat, captain?"
"Quite a bit. Enough to establish on of their colonies."
"But cap, this is our ocean, we can't let them be doing that!"
"I understand that. We raid these fellers, and the ones after thems until they stop coming, and we get this ocean all to ourselves."

Weryl had no idea what was going on when he heard the first thunk on the wooden deck. As he turned around he got a glimpse of a small iron ball. Then a brilliant flash, followed by a wave of heat sent him flying. He blacked out as pieces of wood fell into the water around him.

Once I finished the boat, I went to cut some wood. As I was cutting a monkey threw a tree branch at me. I threw three rocks in a row. The first one missed, the second one hit the monkey's tail and the third one hit his head. *THUD* The monkey was on the floor.

I decided to leave the monkey alone and continued to cut trees.

As I was walking back to my cabin i saw a person. I walked up to him and asked,"Hi, Where are you from?"

" I'm a panda, good thing you came, I was thinking of leaving. Me and Sean, a magician, built a boat, but seeing as you are here we won't need it anymore."

as i leave the question unansword i went in to one of the huts and go to sleep.

I started working on a third floor for branch since sean would come back after getting the herbs.

I finished the third floor and thought about making some walls to protect us from future monsters. Which I started making after I took a rest, a very long rest. OOC: When you guys wake up be surprised

After i long walk through the jungle, i finally found a few patches of herbs needed to make medince and spells for later on. I journeyed back to the house couldnt believe my eyes when i saw it. Frank had built a 3 story house. This could come useful if we find more people on this island.

As branch and I were walking around, we suddenly heard a loud crash. A DRAGON was destroying the sawmill and then looked at us. The dragon was blue, it had scales all over it. It was about 7 meters tall.

branch:''THAT DRAGON!ELL GET IT!!!''as branch started runing towards the dragon he jumps and grabed on to his tale and started stabing it with his sword.

*thinks in mind*i think we have to repair that windmill...

I ran forward, and tried to stab it with my dagger.

ah, but dragons sound better, the people on other islands make their own stuff.

We are not making powers. We will just kill it, nothing extreme. And they have made up their own monsters, too.

When I attacked the second time the dragon used its tail and knocked me down on the ground.

Weryl lay on the beach, amid the scattered ruins of the 'Long Path of Twilight.' His ears were still ringing from the first bomb explosion. Rolling over to get a better look at the rest of the beach, he winced. Not only did he have a couple splinters of varying size, but he had a nasty bruise on his right ribs to go with it.

After a few tries, Weryl managed to stand up, using a thick wooden plank to support him. He staggered into the tide and nearly fell over again. Slowly he began to remove his splinters, immediately splashing salt water on them and hoping that corpses hadn't already corrupted the beach.

Eventually, the Bunni blacked out on the beach. As he woke up to his once pristine fur rippling in the wind, he noticed an inbound storm. As Weryl staggered into the tropical forest, winds began to howl, shaking the trees and creating unearthly noises. Shivering and alone, he fell unconscious a third and final time.

AS branch finished rebuilding the mill,he heard a storm coming and draged everyone in-side,waiting to wait out the storm.(we at northern part of iron forest)

As Jenxas steered his ship to a dock, he knew he would be having a good time.
"Ahoy there, I am Jenxas, a ware seller! Do you need anything?" He said.

Weryl trudged on, fighting through the storm, until he finally hit running water.
Having lived off of rainwater for the past day, it was nice to finally have a reliable source of near inexhaustible water. As he followed this stream, he began to hear what sounded like even more water. Eventually he came to the stream's end. A reasonably sized river ran swiftly towards the beach.

Alongside the river was a thick grassy bank, randomly dotted with ancient, hanging trees. Eventually the bank jutted into the river, creating a large grassy expanse. A panda might have thought it was pretty and moved on. But Weryl was not a panda, he was a Bunni. And so he saw it for what it really was: the perfect camp ground.

Chapter One of the South Durnam Chronicles: Discovery!

Now, Weryl was a cook, not a builder. He'd have to wait until either a more suitable builder was found from the shipwreck or wandering around in the forest. If none came, then the campsite would most likely be a ramshackle wooden hut with a few animal pelts for flooring and insulation.


Yup, it was a long way away from being a house, but for Weryl, it was almost already home.

"Oye, who's there?!" Weryl wheeled around, unslung his bow, knocked an arrow, and attempted to maintain the appearance of being at full health. "Gut out into the open, and drop your weapons, whoever you be. And do it quick, I intend on starting to make this me home, and I don't want to have blood all over it."

Weryl scanned the forest for anyone else. Either he was facing a small group of skilled hunters who could be silent when necessary, or this person was truly alone. Either way, this visitor was going to get out of South Durnam quick if he wanted to be alive when he left. This was Weryl's campsite, and no wandering fool was going to take it from him.

I got out of bed the next day to see how the monkey was. It was sleepying in a chest at the end of my bed. It was still sleeping. "Hopefully he will wake up soon" I said lifting his tail up and down.I decided to hunt for some herbs on the island, it would come in handy later on. I grabbed my small wand and bag of rocks and went out into the jungle.

xaoz walks outside, heads toward the wood mill, takes out some paper and a pencil and starts to draw up what his house will look like.

"Gaah. I do hope they have something useful. This is almost embarrassing. Unless they decide to be hostile in return. In that case I can fill them all with arrows and then take over their whole little settlement!"

Weryl grumbled as he gathered his stuff from the small home he had dug beneath the roots of one of the large trees. Beyond that small little burrow, the campsite had evolved a bit. A small, crude fishing spear lay on the riverbank, along with a small target and an incredibly large somewhat hollowed out log Weryl was intending on using as a watercraft later on.

Oi, it be three days later now!

Weryl slid into the 'enemy' establishment silently, knocking an arrow to the silverwood longbow. There seemed to be multiple buildings, among them a three story house and a crude sawmill. Grumbling, Weryl approached the three story house and knocked on the door before entering.

"Oi, is anyone home!"

He looked briefly through the house before sitting down on the ground near the entrance and waiting silently for the houses inhabitants to appear.

Xaoz finishes the drawing of his house, goes and gets some wood, and starts building the foundation of his new house.

I saw a person outside the house and walked up to him. I asked," Why are you here?"

Waiting inside the house and watching as the sun rose further, Weryl began to hear voices outside. Groaning, he realized he had snuck inside the house only to have the inhabitants be outside. Well, at least he would surprise them in popping out of the house. Knocking an arrow to his bow for the second time, Weryl kicked the door open and fired into the air [For dramatic effect, of course] before looking for the creators of the establishment.

Weryl stared at the two people staring back at him in varying forms of surprise.
"Uhh. Right. I'm Weryl, I come from the south. I was wondering if any of you were builders and could help me start my inn."

He honestly didn't want to live here, but it seemed to be his only choice. If they let him live just outside of the boundaries then he could start something akin to a sub-settlement, where he could attract more people than these guys.

"Unless you really want me here. But you never really answered my question. Are any of you skilled builders?

"Ahh. I was actually hoping to train a few monkeys to help me run the inn. Partly for the actual help, and partly for the show in having trained monkeys. That type of thing can help attract customers, I guess." Weryl shrugged nonchalantly. "And thanks for the offer! I s'pose you can help me."
Weryl sized up the fox, unimpressed with his help. But if this was the worker he got, then he was going to have to deal with him. Maybe he would make a good friend though, weird things like that tend to happen on strange islands like these.
"I was also hoping to be a bit closer to the open beach, is that possible?"

''yes it is possible,but if you need help,i don't think wed get to you in-time,may note that there are monsters on the island...''i said with a smile

"We can take my boat, beaches are a bit further south from here." I said. OoC: and I'm a panda.

Weryl gestured towards his longbow slung across his back. He then glanced at some of the other people at the establishment. "Would they mind if we head over to the beach right now so we can start building the inn?"

"Righto!" Weryl gathered up his few supplies and looked expectantly at the fox, waiting for him to lead Weryl to the beach.

Ignoring the confused sounding other establishment person, Weryl followed Branch towards the beach, and towards his new life. He was starting to like this Branch person already. Seemed to be very useful and knowledgeable about the island.

[OoC; I'm really just looking for a waterfront. Somewhere where people will wash up and I'll be the first there. Not a real-beach. Anyway, unless that map is incredibly out of proportion, there will be a beach in the forests, because there has to be. It doesn't just go trees-water.]

Weryl, being a soldier, was already awake and waiting quietly for the rest of the expedition to wake up. When he was Branch get up, he waved before continuing to check his packs for any missing food or supplies. When it all seemed to be there he looked for a suitable rock to sit on so he could start stringing his bow again.

"I'm fine, just waiting to get back on the road. When do you think your friend is going to get up?"
Weryl was getting impatient. This other person seemed to be quite useless. What a shame.
