Recently, everyone has been responding to Sweet Love's "im back from almost losing my life" and have been talking about life and death.
It got me thinking and I want everyone's imput on what your defintion of life and death is.
Ex. I think the purpose of life is to do something great for the world and death means the next step into eternity.

Each life is merely a single drop of sand in the hourglass.
Death is an illusion.

Life is a journey of discovery, death is the destination. We know where we are going but what we encounter along the way is a mystery.

Life and death is an illusion.
They're natural phenomenons that are should be impossible, unexplainable by the laws of physics, or in any other way that we can observe. Yet, although that may be, we still live our lives and face death someday.
Now death here's an exception because all of us know the concept of death and how it works. But death still is such a phenomenon because it is the eventual result of life, which in itself is unexplainable.
In the end, as I said, they're illusions and they account for nothing. All that awaits is the void at the end.

You can't know there is a void at the end ^.^
Using your argument, let's assume that life and death are just illusions. Illusions as we know are created as a sort of 'mask' over the truth. Which would mean after the illusion has ended we would technically enter back into a 'true' existence. Which couldn't be a void because otherwise, what created the illusion to begin with? The problem here is we cannot disprove that we exist and this is a paradoxical situation in philosophy: we cannot technically have a theory about our own existence. Theories to work, must be able to be falsified, however can one falsify their own existence? I can't deny right now I am sitting on a chair typing this, because I am experiencing this right now, and to experience things I must exist. So technically right now I shouldn't exist in theory, but I do!
This is also why there technically cannot be a void. If we are the ones creating these illusions of life and death, we must also exist in a place outside of the illusion, which cannot be a void, because a void holds no existence :p
Wow that is one good philosophical argument for life after death I made just there.

There are alot of unexplained things with opinionative answers.
What happens to atoms in nuclear explosion?
Where does energy do when we die?
What happens to matter in black holes?

Where does energy do when we die?
It is recycled. Bacteria break down our bodies giving them energy, which in turn gives other things energy. It is a continuous cycle. That answer is theorised into a basic principle of energy already.

Life is what is defined as the creation of a biological organism, and death is the end of said organism. They only exist because they have something to define. They are simply terms nothing less nothing more.

Okay;
Life is the thing I'm doing right now.
Death is the thing that I need to complete my life's work before attaining.
