I'm confused, how am I supposed to talk to a pirate and listen to their stories? I've also killed 2 deer and haven't gotten the heart for killing deer. What do I do?

You just click pirate pete once and he will says 'pirate pete telling a dirty story'. then you came back to coriander to solve the quest.
for killing deer, you need to trigger the quest from coriander first, which will spawn like 4 or 6 deers on the map.

Pirate Pete? Who's that? I haven't seen him around even though I've unlocked all the islands and buildings.

Currently we unable to replicate the bug of missing Pirate Pete / Coriander / Pirate Peach so we don't have any idea when it going to be fixed. We try a few things at the moment but we only can rely on others feedback to see if it already fixed or not.

The deer quest only triggered when Coriander telling a story about deer (which is far later after she ask for Pirate Story ).
