You heard wrong. Fruit trees (apple, pear, plum) are the only things that give you items.

The dance is close to the last quest, and plums are more effieceint then black hills. But that is a good concept, most never think of black hills.



Also, the game states:

Black Hills
"A unique black rock that yields a moderate amount of gold, but some rare items when mined"

In an earlier version of the game mining could yield items.... there is a wee bit of dialogue lurking in this version that is no longer relevant

as to what do they give?
they give 14 gold per arm full

and you really do need to ask a question only once!

Black Hills can’t give rare items, only Legendary Plum Trees can.
