<<Subject's Home Planet Here>>, Day 3,736,451. Time (Intergalactic Standard): 18:37
Another day of containing the multitude of travelers coming to Earth (or other planets) via your Station, and you are the Stationmaster.
Every day a few different kinds of "aliens", as we like to call them, appear in one of the booths that line one side of whichever large building you do your work in. Some appear and immediately (With your assistance) leave via a Departure booth. Of course, there's a timeboard with all the times of people coming and going here- no need to worry!

Then one day you wake up to find your timeboard empty of people coming and going, which is odd. The only arrival listed is "Servi" for midday on whichever planet you live on. The departure time for Servi is only a few minutes after his arrival, which is not strange.
When Servi finally does arrive, you are confronted with something that looks oddly like a dinosaur(even if you've never been to Earth to see their dinosaurs before) but with hands instead of claws on the wings. He hands you a strange package, rather like a manila envelope, but it keeps changing colors. You thank him, but he simply nods and says, "Good. You'll need that." and waits until it is time to leave. He waves and disappears in the typical way, his form dissolving into colored particles, but as it's going well you suddenly see the readouts jam and the particles freeze, jittering in place. Then they disappear and the readouts go back to normal, but the booth is broken beyond repair.
Furious, you stare at the parcel in your hand and put it on the table. He broke the booth! Those things cost a fortune! You look up and suddenly forget about the envelope for the rest of the day as you realize your timeboard has suddenly filled up.

His jaw dropped when he noticed his board being full and his booth being broken. After hours and hours of trying to fix things up, talking to angry aliens, and rushing about, he went to the intercom and said, "Sorry for the inconvenience but we are shutting down for an undetermined time. Please return to your ships if you are incoming, or return to whatever residence you are staying in and if it requires money an automated message will be sent to them, once again, sorry." He slammed the com link down and sat down. He put his scaly claw over his eyes and sighed. Well, this certainly is action, however, not the action I wanted, he thought to himself.

Jade recoiled from the screen. She immediately had to rearrange all sorts of things and there was a large delay. Stupid dinosaur! she thought furiously, as the last of the aliens disappeared through a booth to the backup waystation. She rushed over to the booth and began the end sequence.
However, as she did so, something caught her eye- another sequence of numbers on the timeboard. She finished the sequence, then set it to go and went over.
The board listed her full name and a departure time. Jade knew she hadn't entered this, but when she tried to delete it, it wouldn't go. She sighed. "I'll have to call in with the planetary overseer and tell him.... the booth, too, he won't be happy about this." Jade punched in the correct number and waited- but the connection was dead. She swore and glanced back at the timeboard. Suddenly, something on her desk beeped, and she jumped, sending feathers flying. Regaining her composure, she glanced at the desk and saw the envelope.
Funny. That stupid dinosaur had brought that this morning. Jade picked it up and immediatly the color faded to black with white speckles. A word appeared: GO.
Jade sighed. Perhaps Servi was a governement agent. In that case... she keyed in her weight and species, and luggage- the enevelope. Then she stepped into the booth...

He noticed something on his monitor that made him curious. He leaned closer to it and noticed that there was a departure set for him that he knew he did not make. He quickly looked at the time and saw that it was coming up. He then noticed the folder for the first time. "Not enough time to read it," he said to himself. He picked it up, went to his home, packed up and headed back to the terminal. He went through a part of the booth that employees used. It didn't seem to be broken, yet he hadn't noticed it during the time he worked after the rest of it was destroyed. He then remembered something important and went over to his desk. He pressed a button and called the company who fabricated the booths and said, "Hello, I need to report a destruction of the booth on the planet Gar-Reth-Dan. Yes, yes I am Net-Ulden. Yes I would like a new one sent. What? You were told not to send any new booths? Someone named Servi? Okay, bye." He disconnected and sighed. Maybe this 'Servi' was someone important. And the government had a list of all the important people. He went back to the employee booth, and stepped through.

"Can't people be more careful?" Kayna muttered to herself while clearing up the debris on the floor. "Looks like someone's arriving now." she said, glancing at the timeboard. "Another idiot looking for trouble I suspect." The visitor, tall, scaly and spotty immediately ran out the station. There was no departure time listed for him. "Fool." Kayna muttered, still clearing up the debris.

Jade knew what this travel was supposed to feel like- like you were standing still, still as stone, while the rest of the world hurried about you. And just when you were getting to the point of wondering if something had gone wrong it released you.
She waited, annoyance building, and suddenly her view jarred and went into a static pattern, then broke. Jade abruptly tripped on a tree root. The light here was glaring and bright, and she glanced out to find that no, she had not come out of a booth. She was still clutching the envelope but now she knew that something in her transmit had gone wrong- this wasn't right at all. You can't come out of a transit without a booth!
She put the letter under her tightly closed wings (Dragons use their wings to hold stuff) and slowly dropped to all fours, stepping forwards. The strange white light wasn't natural- it flickered every so often, and Jade could feel no heat from it. Rather, the heat radiated from the floor- At some points she could even see the air rippling above suspicious-looking patches of clearly fake moss. Used to conceal a heating grate...
That confirmed Jade's suspicions- this forest was inside a building. Or an airship.
"Hullo!" Said a cheerful voice from behind her. She whipped around, fire rising in her throat, only to see Servi trotting towards her. She hissed in warning, and Servi abruptly executed a massive sideways jump eight feet to her left. Nothing happened- Jade held her fire in for now, but smoke trickled out between her teeth. Servi coughed politely.
"Allow me to welcome you to the space-kestrel 1A102534, or as we who don't like to use the number format, she's called Intergalactica."
Jade eyed the saurian biped warily. "Right." she said. "And why do I need to know that?"
"Because you'll be staying here for a while." Servi said. He smiled at her.
"What?!" Jade hissed, coiling up. "I have a waystation to manage! I can't stay here! You need to send me back- RIGHT NOW!"
"Ah, I'm afraid we can't do that." Servi said apologetically. "You see, we only have one booth, and it's only used for official business. If we use it too many times within a day the government will begin to notice these unnamed, open-end transits."
This rang an alarm bell in Jade's mind. "So, you see," Servi concluded, "you're stuck here."

Net-Ulden stumbled when the transit stopped. He looked behind him and found no gate. He looked ahead and saw a weird dragon and Servi. He subconsciously activated the cloak on his armor. A slight hissing noise could be heard and there appeared to be a haze as the light from the sources around him were refracted along the armor. He crept around the trees to get closer, but he tripped and because he moved fast as he fell the armor lost all of it's energy and the cloak shorted out. For now. "Dang it," he said on the ground.

The booth flashed and Kayna stumbled and fell on the arriver. A local back from his travels. The departures booth strangely fired up suddenly. Kay tripped on a plank of wood and fell into the booth. Before she could get out, she was being transported.
She opened her eyes to find herself staring at Servi and two other creatures.
"I wonder who they are." she muttered to herself. "Probably his assistants or some thing." She got up and began walking towards them.
((About the booth, it often fires up for no reason. It's dodgy.))

Jade opened her wings slightly, arching her back and making the feathers fan out to look bigger. A natural response. However, as she did so, the multicolored package fell out and dropped onto the soft forest floor.

Net-Ulden noticed that the weird dragon also had a packet like his. He got up and walked over to it. He looked at Servi and then asked, "Who are you?" That was directed to the weird dragon the next question was directed to Servi, "And what are you doing here. I hope that you know that my booth was not cheap, and the provider said something about not being sent a new by by order of someone called... Servi."

RohannaFalcon

Servi coughed nervously. "Hem, er, yes, that's me," He said, glancing around. He ruffled his feathers and looked back to Jade. "You needn't be like that, and you might want to pick that packet up." He gestured to the rapidly multiplying packets.
(( Sorry, I really, REALLY wanted to put that.
And just as a clarification this is what Servi looks like, only with hands instead of claws on the front wing-arms. http://universe-review.ca/I10-72-Dromaeosaur.jpg))

He gestured to the colorful envelope. Jade blinked and put her wings back down, then sat back on her hind legs, stretching out her front paws to pick up the envelope. She glanced up. "So. Servi." She said matter-of-fact-ly. "You're saying that not only do I have to pay for an expensive waystation booth, but I can't even get back to manage the waystation?!" She turned to the other being, the one who had asked her what she was. "For your information," She said haughtily, "I am Jade Star of Morning, Fire-breather, Wind-watcher, Calm Forest." She would have said her full name in her own dialect but got the feeling that he wouldn't understand. She turned back to a very nervous Servi.
"No need to worry," Servi soothed, "there's already another there, taking care of your job for you. Think of this as...." Here he paused, rolling his eyes upwards, thinking. Then he looked back to her. "Think of it as a vacation."
Jade was surprised. A vacation? Who did this idiot think he was? She could clearly tell from the ship's name it wasn't a government ship, and the way he had talked about the government suggested that he was completely separate from it.
Jade hissed again, placing the package carefully on the mossy ground. Then she dropped back to all fours and glanced at the other two.
Before she could say anything, Servi intervened. "Thank you for coming, you three, please follow me. And bring your packets."

(Also, just a clear up. The suit has four different modes. One that boosts speed, and horizontal movement with jumping as a side affect, one that boosts strength, which is somewhat self explanatory, another is armor, which decreases damage taken by attacks, and of course, the stealth. The Strength mode glows red where there is no armor, and uses energy whenever he uses most things related to strength, speed glows white and has white 'waves' across the non-armored areas and uses energy whenever he sprints, armor has no special look and uses energy whenever hit by a damaging blow, and Stealth makes him, and most things he holds, invisible, but it makes a slight hissing noise and the area where he is is faintly hazy and uses energy when idling and when moving it uses a lot more energy. The energy also recharges fairly quickly. I just wanted to post this so that nothing comes out of the blue when I do it.)
Net-Ulden looked at the packet at his, shrugged, and walked closer to Servi. He looked over at Jade Star and said, "My name is Net-Ulden from the planet Gar-Reth-Den, but, you can call me Nettlebrand. Nice to meet you."

(( Haven't the foggiest! Perhaps we should.))
Servi shook the offered hand gingerly, as if afraid that Nettlebrand would hurt him or something. The dinosaur-like being smiled and said, "You're all here, correct? Oh, no, wait...." He paused and glanced around. "We're still waiting for one more transit. Hope it doesn't take too long."
Jade frowned. "All right, so you said I was on a starship. Where in the universe are we?"
Servi chuckled. "You're in the Servican Galaxy. As it happens, my home planet is here. I was named after the galaxy in the hopes that some day I would fully understand it." He glanced around again, ruffling up the feathers on his head.
(( Well he looks actually more like this. http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/diapsids/saurischia/velociraptor1_skrep.jpg Only with a shorter snout and feathers that are a lot more colorful, he's mostly blue with lots of different colors on his head. Orange, green and purple, and yellow and red, like a giant macaw, sort of. Not really. And cool armor/suit! I like the speed one especially.))

Poohbomber
08-31-2010, 11:18 PM
(The armor was something that I took out of a game. It had armor just like mine in all respects except the look.)
"Wait, you are named after a galaxy?" Net-Ulden laughed heartily at this. "Where I come from, that would be a sign of an egotistic mind! No matter if they named themselves that, or if someone else named." He backed up away from Servi and looked around and said, "Waiting for someone else? Eh, screw that. Is there anything we can do as we wait?"
(Just a little technical FYI. He can run at 20 mph with the mode activated in short bursts of 8-9 seconds with about a 7 second wait for the suit to recharge. He can still run at an accelerated speed of 12 mph without any energy in speed mode. In strength mode, he can jump two stories. His punches are like being hit with a sledge hammer swung hard, and he can kick about double that. Just thought I should also include that as well.)

(( Awesome! Jade can breath about four different materials, depending on what she needs at the time. Sometimes five. She can do fire, a jet of acid, a jet of water that makes plants grow, a mist that heals, and what could be best described as a directed bolt of lightning. I don't care if it's unscientific- it happens. Heh.))

Jade blinked. "I really-" was as far as she got, but Servi wasn't even looking at her anymore. He trotted over to the other being, the third one who had appeared, and said, "I'm quite sorry we had to bring you here so suddenly." He told her. "However, you cannot get back, I'm afraid. Don't worry," He added, tilting his head slightly to the side, "There's another, quite capable, taking care of your job for right now."
Jade sighed and turned to the one who had introduced himself as Nettlebrand. "Good afternoon," She greeted him politely in the Standard.
(( Standard is a dialect that is used all over the place; like English, Spanish, Common Speech, Common Tongue, Intergalactic Standard, blah blah blah.))

"If it really is," Nettlebrand said distantly. (I'm going to be switching between the two names from time to time.) Nettlebrand sighed, crossed his arms, then looked at Star, and then said, "So you're a booth keeper as well? How did you get into it?" He looked away and said, "I got into it because I thought it would involve more action than the Marines were." He laughed then shook his head and continued with, "Boy was I wrong. Although meeting all of the interesting aliens was pretty amazing." Nettlebrand walked over to a root and sat down. "I met an alien that had no eyes, and instead of using antenna or scent, it used psychic powers for senses," he said, "Although this is probably the most excitement that I've had in years, even though it isn't the best kind."

(( Star? LOL! ))
Jade nodded. "Eh. I could chose what I wanted to do- all of us are. Dragons, that is." She said. "I picked this because nobody else in my class wanted to do it- apparently there was a rumor going around that if your a Station-Keeper, you have to change your name and you get your wings cut." She laughed. "I didn't believe it, of course."

Servi sighed. "I really don't understand why you don't believe it." He said. "You cannot get back. We cannot attract government notice. Please, simply accept that fact and everything will be infinitely easier."

(( Servi's not very tactful.))

(Sorry, I saw Star and I went right to it.)
"You must have had some worry that it was true," said Nettlebrand. "I know some of my comrades in the military thought it weird that I would leave the army for a job like a Stationkeeper. At first I thought I would have to go to a civilian armor instead of my own custom suit, but little did I know that the Stationkeeper was the same rank as any politicians or generals." How long are we going to have to stay here, and why? thought Nettlebrand to himself.

09-01-2010, 11:25 PM
"A little," Jade answered, "but my clutch-warmer knew the Stationmaster that lived near us, and told me it wasn't. She blinked as Nettlebrand stated the high rank of a Stationmaster, then grinned. "I suppose that if anything carries anything nasty through you have to deal with it," She said. "Dragons are capable because we can breath.... stuff, but unless you can do that, which I don't think you can, you'd need military-issue gadgets and stuff." She didn't actually have much knowledge about military 'gadgets and stuff' at all.

Jade looked at the arrival suddenly. He, like the others, had suddenly popped out of nowhere. However he didn't stumble- perhaps he had been anticipating this? She tilted her head to the side, thinking.
Servi, however, knew exactly who he was. "Banyahn!" He exclaimed happily. He jumped forwards- literally, using those strangely jointed hind legs- and fluffed up his feathers. "Good, you're all here. Now we can proceed!"
Jade frowned. "Proceed with what?"
"Hmm?" Servi glanced at her. "Oh, you'll see."
"I hate when people say that. It makes me angry." Jade said matter-of-factly, but puffed out a few smoke rings. Servi glanced nervously at her and muttered something in a different language to himself. Jade didn't know what it meant. Then Servi beckoned to the four of them and said, "Nettlebrand, Kay, Jade Star of Morning, Banyahn, please follow me." With that, he began to make his way through the indoor forest with ease.

He pointed at him and quickly said, "Where the devil did you come from?" He then noticed Servi walking away. He looked at Ban and started to follow Servi.

(( Sorry for my fail, I have not slept in.... a while. ))

He reached the edge of the indoor forest. A curved white dome with a virtual sky above it surrounded the whole place, and Servie glanced around, then trotted up to the wall. He bent close to it and said something that the others couldn't catch, and a door materialized in the fake forest background. Servi blinked and it slid open, large enough for even Jade to pass through. Beckoning to the group, Servi stepped over the threshold and into the corridor beyond- the corridor was rectangular, and made of dark gray metal. Jade shivered and pulled her wings tighter, sensing what seemed like cold air flowing out of the tunnel. Nevertheless, she doggedly followed Servi into the dark hall.

Net-Ulden also followed through. He couldn't feel much of the cold due to the fact that his suit regulated the temperature within. "How do you have such a magnificent, yet fake, forest inside of this, yet it still be cold?" he asked. He looked around at the corridor. It seemed like it was somewhat archaic as most buildings now are built of with the occupant in mind, such as eye-pleasing decor.

He wasn't too interested in plant matter, he just wanted to know simply because if they did, they must have good agri-scientists because many other races have tried to keep them alive, but have been unable to replicate the water on his home planet.

Servi shook his head. "No, we do not." He stopped at an ordinary door, opened it, and trotted down another long hallway. He did this about four times over a period of about ten minutes, going past a lot of other doors, until Jade was thoroughly lost. Then he opened another door into a large area with something like heather covering the ground except for paved walkways. The roof was a glass dome, but there was light shining through. He stopped at two large, ornate doors and said, "Here we are. Be polite." before pushing them open and stepping through....

Jade blinked. They were in an observitory. Potted ferns hung from the ceiling and plants grew from boxes in the corners. Tall bookshelves lined the walls and a small door led into another room with even more bookshelves, but they didn't go there. Servi led them onwards until they reached a semicircular golden desk, at which were seated several different types of beings. There was a large foxlike creature with fuzzy wings, what could have been a giant spider, a round, beach-ball shaped blue thing with slick skin and only one anguished-looking eye rolling around unhappily, a strange green horse with six legs instead of four and antenna, and a human.

Servi whipped around to face her, horrified. "Hush! Now!" He commanded, then bowed to the five creatures.
"I am sorry for being late. We had to wait a moment before the last one came." Turning towards the group, he gestured to the creatures. "These are the leaders you will be working for."
"Wait, what?" Jade stepped forwards, baring her teeth. "I didn't even want to be here. Who are you, and who are they?"
"They are people you should be paying the greatest respect to-" Servi began, but the horse-thing whinnied with laughter.
"Servi, Servi." It laughed. "Don't worry. They're obviously confused- I was!"
Servi fell silent.
"I am Kirishi. The Canidi over there is Faer. The Arachi is Ssarasya. The, ah..." She trailed off, staring at the beach-ball thing. "Sorry, I forgot exactly how to pronounce your species name again, Yynmaa."
"It's fine," Yynmaa said in a diffused, slow kind of voice. Kirishi nodded, then glanced at the human. "And that's Horatio."
Jade nodded. "Great. My name is Jade Star of Morning, Fire-Breather, Wind-Watcher, Calm Forest. Of course, that's translated." Her full name was usually impressive, but the effect sort of wilted under the gaze of the five beings at the gold desk. Possibly because it was raised a foot and a half off the ground.

Net-Ulden was slightly in awe, yet didn't let it show. He had had a few occasions with Humans before, but nothing too long. He had no clue what the other creatures were. "My name is Net-Ulden, you may call me Nettlebrand if you like, from the planet Gar-Reth-Den," he introduced himself. He wondered if they knew him from his military career. He had been one of the more known Sub-Generals, which was the translated title of his races secondary military leaders, who actually lead the army as the Generals were mainly political figures.

Kirishi nodded. "Thank you." She glanced at him, and then Faer spoke up.
"You in army?" He asked, his soft voice thickly accented. "I hear your name before."
Yynmaa glanced at Nettlebrand. "Looks capable," He said in his sad voice.
"Cheer up." Kirishi said, then realized who she was talking to. "Oh, nevermind."
(( Yynmaa's voice always sounds sad which is funny. ))

"Yes, I have served quite a long period of time in my nations army, up to Var-Shaden in fact," he said, "If you didn't know, that is translated to Sub-General." He looked around the room that they were in and wondered how many books were on the shelves, and what their subjects were.

Nettlebrand scoffed as he heard Kay say that she wouldn't serve any unknown creature. He said to her while crossing his arms, "I would suggest you get used to it as they are clearly a higher rank than you." He looked up at the assorted aliens and said, "In all truth, I personally wouldn't serve any other than my race, but it would seem I really don't have a choice right now." He sighed and walked over to a nearby wall and leaned up against it. "So why have you brought us here? And why four Stationmasters? Why not any old creature in the infinite universe?" he asked.

"Not me," Yynmaa said tiredly. "I don't want to do it."
Kirish's antenna twitched but she otherwise betrayed no sign of unhappiness. "All right, then Faer over there can do it."

Kirishi sighed. "I would tell you the names of all the stars and galaxies from different points of view, but we really don't have the time. Faer?"
"Alright," barked the Canidi. He turned his muzzle towards the group, and Jade blinked as she saw his eyes- dark, dark brown, like chocolate, or very thick mud. He smiled in a strange way at the group. "You're here because we need your skills as Operators. Waystation runners. You are skilled, yet you will also believe us."
"We are rebels. Plain and simple." Yynmaa said slowly. Jade waited for Faer to defend themselves, but he just nodded.
"Yes, Yynmaa is right. We're rebels." He yipped. "And if we use the 'booth' we used to bring you here a few more times, the Galactic Empire- as we call it- will know where we are.
"For many years they have strived to find us. For many years we have evaded them. Now we are gathering all our forces to us, but we cannot get the swiftly enough- every transmit gets us closer to being found. That is where we need your help. We must build booth control panels, enough to bring in armies."
Jade blinked. "Where's the booth?"
Horatio smiled and spoke for the first time. "The forest. The whole forest is the booth." He said in a thick Irish accent. Jade shuffled her feathers and sat down, thinking.
"So, basically, you want us to break the law for you guys?"
"Well, not exactly." Horatio grinned. "We want to know if you will break the law for us."
Jade grinned, showing all her teeth. She liked this human. "Alright. I'm in." the dragon said.

Net-Ulden grimaced when he said that. He wasn't necessarily fond of rebellions himself, as he has been called to eradicate some. But the difference now is that he isn't a Sub-General. "I don't think I would be able to help build a panel, as we get ours pre-built. What is this revolution for? I haven't noticed anything wrong with the government," he said. Though he knew that this was because his race was slightly on the edge of the influence of the Empire, and they didn't have the means to enforce laws on them. "I can hold a gun though," he said.

"Well, from past experiences, the same animal on a different planet can have different behavior characteristics," he said. He grimaced as he remembered the occasion that taught him that and explained it, "For example, the Shrieke bat inhabits our planet, but is relatively calm, so when I led an expedition with my troop onto another planet with them, we were surprised to find that they attacked with such a ferocity that I lost one of my men." Jade blinked. "Where we are we don't have any sort of rat or bat that attacks the residents of our planet, but there is a type of land-bound dragon which we use as a pet." She swallowed and hurridly added, "They aren't sentient. It's like humans having monkeys as pets. Anyways, the larger of the species are sometimes illegally used to fight against each other. We could use some of them."
Kirishi nodded. Horatio was smiling, his grin increasing with every suggestion.
"Ssarasya, do you think we can glean a few trainers to help with these? If we take some of the jungle rats, and some of the pet dragons Jade speaks of, and maybe contain some of the bats from the planet Nettlebrand was speaking of, we might be able to train them. Except for the bats," he said thoughtfully, "we could put a break-open cage and fly it over enemy camps, then drop it in- it breaks open, the bats attack, then go on their merry way. We could track them too, so as to not let any escape and harm the environment."
Ssarasya bubbled to herself, and was busy scratching down what Kay had told her, then she turned her many eyes on Horation.
"Perhapssssss." She said. "The pet dragonsssss are a good ssssuggessssstion. As are the batssssssss. But what iffff the trackerssssss fail?" She hummed for a moment, thinking, then blinked.
