Hi all, here is a thread to vent all of your anger on something that has made you angry recently. I felt a great and mighty need to rant about this:

I'm writing this because I was particularly annoyed today about protestors. And I have been particularly annoyed about protestors in general lately.

Pretty much, I walk to uni, and on my way just before I entered the university's main grounds I see these protestors either side of a pedestrian crossing, not only blocking the main path but walking out in front of cars REALLY bloody slowly. Just wandering back and forth constantly. Let me tell you, it is hard enough to find a parking spot on the university campus without people with signs stopping you for 2 minutes as they cross in front of you to show their stupid protest. There was a massive line of cars backed up because of these protestors doing this. Not only that I had to fight my way through the massive pack of them to get to the other side since they were taking up the whole pathway.

Another thing that protestors have annoyed me about lately is that near where my parents live where it's all national parks and bushlands they wanted to hold a rally, as rallies are held on narrow dirt roads and cliffs and stuff. So this is all well and good except for the people who think that rally cars are going to "kill all the wildlife, especially koalas" because apparently now koalas are daytime animals... or rally cars can climb trees to hit koalas. I'm not sure, point is it was a stupid reason, there would be no consequence of holding a rally. Day of the rally rolls around, what do these idiots do? LOL I PUT LARGE BOULDERS ON THE ROAD THEN THROW ROCKS AT THE RALLY CARS. This is ENDANGERING PEOPLES LIVES.

Honestly, I know protestors do a lot of good, but I don't see how pissing people off on purpose to prove a point helps your cause. Nor do I see how endangering people's lives is appropriate, especially when they have nothing to do with the actual organisation.

Anyway that is my rant for now, feel free to add your rants as well.

Pain and life.

Two things I could do without.
Two things that piss me the heck off.

The other day I... pretended to hold an M16 in the shooter's standing position. I then went to the um... close range... assault position, you know the "hunched over" one, and tried jogging a few feet.

My bad leg gave out and I lost my balance making me fall after only a few steps. Very disheartening. Made me angry, but more depressed, to once again realize I will never be able to do things like I once did.

That I'm freaking 22 and I'm loosing my hair from so much stress.

When people try and tell you differently than what you know. Especially if these people are younger than you. People who *THINK* they know what pain feels like.

People who act like they are tough. People who act like hot stuff. People who act hardcore. You don't ACT hardcore, it's just something you are. You don't flaunt it either, people will see it just by the way you carry yourself. It's something you can't help.

People who think they are better than you and aren't. People who think they know better than you and don't. People who pretend to be cool and amazing. People who lie. People who pretend to be something they aren't.

People who underestimate you.

he he my parents hate it when I swear at things, but they can't do much but say things like 'EMMA! thats not nice!' :D

People, they make me wanna kill stuff.

Now you're seeing things my way.

I guess I will throw in another thing that annoys me: matue age students at uni. Seriously, you get one in your class and all they do is ask questions. "what if this" it gets answered "no but what it this" etc. Then class gets dragged out when it could have ended. And they are the dumbest questions as well. What is it with mature age students and asking a million and one questions about the same thing?

The same thing used to annoy me at highschool when people at the front of the room kept asking questions and I'm like SHUT UP OMG I WANT TO GET TO THE END OF THE LESSON KNOWING EVERYTHING I AM SUPPOSED TO KNOW!!!

The only thing I hated more was when people wouldn't shut up talking.

I feel like saying more things.

Let's start off to annoying to the most annoying.

-People who ask stupid questions. You don't want a 86 year old lady asking your B-day. Rank 5

-Date Finders. Seriously, what if some guy asks out a girl which is really a guy on the internet? Rank 4

-People who have problems with the things that I do that aren't very important. Rank 3

-Braggers. I gained this hate of a recent (or long ago) story. Rank 2

-Fangirls. By Fangirls, I mean uber fangirls. The Fangirl: Like... OMG SASUKE RULEZ ALL NARUTO AND NO ONE IZ BETTA DAN HIM!!!! The-Not-Fangirl: So? The Fangirl: So?! DAT MEAN HE DUN LIKE YOU AND HE LUV M3. That's what I mean folks. This is rank 1.

-Parent lectures. I don't like it when parents start yelling at you, then showing off that they have good grades, and having friends. Like this...
It seems like a normal day... your happy with your friends, and chatting. Your parents catch you and say: WHY YOU LOOKING AT DAT. U SUPPOSE TO STUDY. I GET GOOD GRADES BUT YOU DUN'T. I think it is rude for students to be leaving before the teacher has finished. It's like walking off from a conversation with someone just because you don't like what is being said. It's called social etiquette. Which makes me want to rant about how rude kids are to teachers in class. Teachers are people too and they are just trying to do their job and you have these rude snooty kids making it hard for them to do it. Is it any wonder you feel as though a teacher you purposely try to piss off hates you? It's all about your behaviour within certain contexts. If you show respect to others they are obliged to respect you back.

Having said that some teachers were just jerks to begin with. I was one of those quiet kids who always did their work without being told and listened in class, most teachers loved teaching me because I was like this. Some teachers though, and I couldn't understand why (and still can't) seemed to think generalising the class as a whole and punishing everybody rather than the 1 or 2 disruptive kids was a good idea. I mean what the hell does this do other than encourage negative feelings toward the teacher?

In any case the saying, "always treat others as you would have them treat you" applies here.

That's because its too hard to blame one on one, or they don't know who did it, or its just easier. They can't always punish them one by one. (like in some of my classes they most of the people their are all friends which makes them all talk a lot)

Though sometimes, it really is the teachers fault.

Monster, most of the teachers at my school knew the kids who behaved and those who didn't. My school was probably pretty small compared to what you are probably used to (about 500 - 600 kids approximately), I guess I feel there was no real justification for punishing the whole class on the account of a few people who were consistent offenders :p I say bring back the cane!!! school punishment these days is ridiculous. oooo you get sent outside when youre bad, so you don't have to do the work you didn't want to do anyway. What is the point of this?

In any case, I'm so glad I am not in highschool anymore, it was so frustrating. University is so much better because you are in a cohort of people who actually are there to learn and so pay attention in lectures and stuff. Seriously a class of >300 people is quieter than my highschool classes of about 25 people. Go figure :D

People in highschool are just immature...

Our school did that as well, call parents, send letters home, suspend etc. Did it do anything? No. Those kinds of things don't change behaviour. Parents are discouraged to physically discipline their children these days with a good hard whack on the butt, so children don't fear punishment from home, what are the parents going to do? kids like that who misbehave at school have no respect for anybody, because they arent shown how to respect. Suspending kids doesn't change the behvaiour, ooo you have been a bad boy now go and do some work in isolation you naughty child. Even better external suspensions! Here take this work and stay home for two weeks. How is that even punishment?

Children lack discipline these days. When I was younger I feared doing anything bad because I knew my parents would give me a smack and it would hurt. These days children grow up thinking they can do anything without consequences for their actions, because they aren't punished appropriately!

Asian countries like Japan seem to understand what respect and hard work is about. Over here we have all the do-gooders "don't hit your kids that's child abuse" bla bla. There is a difference between whacking your kid once for something bad and abusing your kid every day for nothing. God I hate do-gooders as well. They would do good to just shut the hell up and think logically about things for once.

You know they are the cause of no backburning? "Backburning kills animals and is unneccesary!" is their argument, but the cost of not backburning and getting rid of all the dry materials is human lives, as well as countless upon countless animal lives. Not only that but many native Australian trees can only reproduce under extreme heat from bushfires, and controlled backburning is good for doing this as well. No back burning means OUT OF CONTROL BUSHFIRES. And trust me there are enough firebugs to cause these.

DO NOT take this personally pirate_foxes, as it is not an attack on you, and I am not looking for a fight or argument, this is just a friendly correction: I would like to point out that even though we all ‘hate’ stereotyping we use it every day, and as such I am assuming you are meaning negative stereotypes when you say that.
Here are a couple of definitions I just quicksearched:
a broad generalization or an oversimplified view that disregards individual differences.

A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image

a characterization based on conscious or unconscious assumptions that some one aspect—such as gender, age, ethnic or national identity, religion ...

Based on these I can point out even you use stereotypes (hence the correction negative stereotypes):
Of course Asians are the only people who discipline their children.

A stereotype in a stereotype complaint :D

You even stereotyped yourself in this one. This is why I think you mean negative stereotypes (like ones that are the basis for prejudice etc.)

In short any form of 'labelling' or 'grouping' of people into a pre-defined category is stereotyping, or using stereotypes :p

Asian countries like Japan seem to understand what respect and hard work is about.
I can second that, from personal experience. I have taught university students both in the US and in Thailand, and the difference is just astounding. Without exception, Thai students are way more respectful towards teachers, elders and ancestors than their American peers would ever be. It's not a stereotype, it's a well-established cultural phenomenon. :)

One American who learned Asian discipline the hard way was Michael P. Fay, the teenager who was punished by caning in Singapore for vandalism and theft.

Ironically, while I was in the States, I also personally knew a family where a misbehaving teen actually sued his own mom for 'physical abuse' when she tried to discipline her misbehaving son. Go figure.

Mmmm one kinda minor thing that annoys me
Whenever at my job working at the cashout and I ask someone if they want a bag for all their stuff most often their response is "Oh only if you don't mind" or "Only if you can spare one". Now I mean come on, I OFFERED YOU THE FRIGGEN BAG, Do you think I'd offer it and then be like "Oh no sorry, I do mind, NO BAG FOR YOU" or "Oh wait we're out of bags, how silly of me to offer you one". Its a minor thing I know, but since I'm a logical person it annoys me greaty to have that happen with EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER I OFFER A BAG TO.

Actually while I'm on work, CUSTOMERS in general annoy me. A customer buys a pack of bubblegum and acts surprised when I don't automatically wrap it in a large plastic bag and hand it them. Or if I do actually ask them "Well how else am I meant to carry it?" (Oh gee maybe your HANDS).

Another great one is a customer bringing a product up to me and asking "Do you happen to know if any of the ingredients in this product come from (insert random country name here)" and then somehow expect me to know the answer within 5 seconds before getting impatient. Im so sorry dear customer, but no I did not spend 24 hours a day for 2 weeks looking up the information of all the products in the store just on the off chance someone like you came in JUST so those weeks werent wasted.
As you can see I definetly enjoy work and would NEVER quit the job as soon as the opportunity for a job with less dealing with people became avaliable

(I was gonna post some others but i got lost in my hatred for work, oh well)

Reminds me of when I used to work at Hungry Jacks on the drive thru. You're trying to take orders as fast as you can coz there is a huge line and people are just like umming and arrring about what they should get. They as you what drinks you have, you say them, they ask you to repeat it, you say again, they ask you what drink they should get. It's like OMG HOW WOULD I KNOW WHAT YOU LIKE D= just HURRY UP.

Not to mention the abuse you cop from people who have had wrong orders previously, and they come through and start going off at you when you werent even the person who served them. Seriously, some people are such pigs.

I have so many horror stories of working at that damned place, honestly they would shock and appall you, hence why I quit the job and didn't go back into a fast food job - or any job at the moment for that matter. lol...

Oh and another thing I really hate is people who whinge and complain about how bad their life is, and only see the negative side of everything, and they keep asking what they should do, or you try to give them advice, try to help them see the positive sides of their life but all they want to do is wallow in self pity and get sympathy from others. These people piss me off so much they are the biggest attention getters, and they do nothing to help themself. I simply have no sympathy for these people, because they just don't listen!!! They don't want to fix their lives, so I don't want to give them the attention they are craving from not fixing their lives.

These people piss me off so much they are the biggest attention getters, and they do nothing to help themself. I simply have no sympathy for these people, because they just don't listen!!! They don't want to fix their lives, so I don't want to give them the attention they are craving from not fixing their lives.

Emos are the biggest problem here, methinks.

Another thing, religion in general. Now now,im not trying to be a religon basher here, but alot of religious people piss me off. They go around preaching that you have to be a person who can't have much fun,and 'sins' supposedly send you to hell when you die, where you will be forever tortured.Im sorry, but I just don't believe this.Sorry to anyone who I offended, but I just had to get that off my chest.

Heheh, yeah working on servicing people like as waiter, casheer, and such is the most repetitive and depressive job. I can't stay in any of them for more than 6 months.

It just easier to give up.

Well I would agree with you kitten. Some religious people are fanatically annoying. Especially that instead showing the love of theirs god, they show the horror of what happens if we don't obey theirs god.

I can agree with you there as well, that's a really good way of putting it actually.

And I agree with Kitten as well. I mean I respect other's beliefs even if I don't believe in it myself. I just don't like things being pushed into my face which is what these people do, I'm an agnostic so I really don't care on the issue, hurrah if there is a god hurrah if there isn't, I really don't care. And the stupid thing is 3 of the core world religions with the biggest number of followers all stem from the same basic principles and they are the ones that argue the most! C'MOOOON!!! People believe what they want to believe and as long as they keep it to themselves I'm fine with it, the minute they start trying to shove their beliefs down my throat is when it becomes not fine.

And don't even get me started on cults...

Well I am religious person, but I hate it when people do that. (Specially Roman Catholics) I believe you have the right to believe what you believe. Same with the most people in my group of religion (episcopalians and I totally spelt that wrong).

A lot of religious people are born into the religion. They are not given a chance to decide for themselves what to believe. In some cases, you are either in the religion or you are punished if you try to believe your own.

Not all religious groups call for such a thing. I have spoken to pagans before for example. They don't rub their beliefs in your face even if you ask about it. They will tell you what it is about and what it means if you are curious but won't condemn you to curses and such if you don't believe what they say.

Especially that instead showing the love of theirs god, they show the horror of what happens if we don't obey theirs god.
There has to be some way for you to feel pressured into submitting into a religion... otherwise there is absolutely no reason to stay other than the horrors of the afterlife for example.

Forcibly or not, a "religion" requires you to submit in one way or another. If it's like the caste system, by having to do rituals, or by giving you a deep rooted feeling of superiority to others, there are ways of forcing you to believe you have no other option.

Kitten, That is true. Like Pirate said, lots of people are born into religions. some are pressured into religions though too, so don't be so harsh.

That's not harsh...

Ultimately its only you, yourself, that decides what you want to believe. If you are pressured into it or not.
Christians talk about having faith through persecution for their beliefs... this also goes the other way, you don't agree with something, have faith in in what you hold to be correct and true in the face of adversity.

What's the point in being in a religion if you don't agree with it?

Then believe SCIENCE, even though science and religion are different.

The only thing I believe in is my own existence, because it is the only thing I know is true. You can't even believe your own senses because they are interpretations of your brain. Also a phenomenon called phantom limbs where a person who has lost a limb physically feels pain in the limb even though it is not there, suggests your brain may also be responsible for making your body feel things that it isn't really feeling. How can you feel pain in something that is no longer there?
Split-brain patients show a phenomenon that through lack of communication between the hemispheres of the brain their left hand may draw the word they saw in their left vision field, but since all the language centres are in the left hemisphere, the left hemisphere makes up reasons why the left hand has drawn this picture that half the time they cannot even recognise. This suggests that our left hemisphere only is like the narrator of our life, and it will make stuff up if it doesn't know the reason behind things.

Just some examples of why I don't believe in anything much. :D

A lot of religious people are born into the religion. They are not given a chance to decide for themselves what to believe.

Ultimately its only you, yourself, that decides what you want to believe. If you are pressured into it or not.

That seems like a bit of a contradiction, you are born into a religion in which you have no choice of what you believe in, so how can you have any choice on what to believe? How can you decide what to believe in if you do not know what else there is to believe in? If you are born into a religion you aren't pressured into believing it, you just believe it because you don't know what else to believe.

There has to be some way for you to feel pressured into submitting into a religion... otherwise there is absolutely no reason to stay other than the horrors of the afterlife for example.

I think she is referring to extremists like the Islam terrorist attacks such as the Twin Towers, and holy wars as such where religion is the main cause of attack. People who think their religion is the only way to believe and thus attack others who aren't conforming to it. Thus the horrors of not believing in their religion.

And so as I continue to contribute to the venting: another thing I really hate is misinformed people. There is nothing worse than people who state their opinion on something they either know nothing about or believe conventional media about. Seriously, if my argument isn't a theoretical one, and is a knowledge based one, if I don't know enough about a topic I will shut up. But you have these people who go on with all this crap that they know nothing about and then they just look like idiots. Man there is nothing worse than arguing with an idiot.

And thus hopefully ended the religion debate and/or whatever it's supposed to be.

I was gonna say something about it like... Oh, I don't care for religious fanatics.
If I am annoyed by their faith, apparently it's my own problem. If it's about gay marriage issues, that's different. (mentally stabs the Bible)

(gets shot by religious fanatics)

Another thing that annoys me.... 12 year olds who believe they are the top of the world. You may think I am being stereotypical... but oh no...I know because I used to be one of those. :]

I just love those emo rants they put up on the internet, believing that they are the center of the universe. Obviously, the heliocentric universe is a farce to them.

And also how they just... ask for help in their pseudo-love relationsh*t, but at the same time, in the same convo, in the same HOUR, rejects them. And they go blowing off on how the world sucks and that they will one day hang themselves with their fake converse shoelace. (actually, I would take the hanging part seriously.)
