I also found monsters attacking my forests and mines and when I try to click on them, nothing happens. I tries clicking on my trees, and nothing happened, I can't click on the stores or the NPCs. I also have more pandas, monsters and pirate bunnies than before the marriage. Also I can't save to see if it'll go away after.:mad: What happened? How long do the boxes keep coming? What you describe sounds a lot like you're viewing an island in 'guest' mode (ie. following the link that appears on your save screen). Possibly even that of another user.
