Well, as you know, today is 9/11...As we honor the fallen, I realize that we have some people here, that are fighting for my country, the USA, and all the other countries who have experienced Terrorism, and protecting the ones who haven't...
I give the upmost thanks, to: My cousin randy, who stole 50$ from me when i was 6.
Also:Pirate Foxes, for being here and fighting against spam when he isn't(or paused) fighting for the country. (Country unspecified xD)

Oh my...
Well thank you. It's not often-
I no longer am in the military due to injury but would gladly go back and serve in a heartbeat. I respect all people in any branch of the military. (Although the Marine Corps is the best! Semper Fi!)
And by the way, it's the USA. (*Obligatory patriotic remarks inserted here.*)
It's a terrible thing that happened 8 years ago. It was an event that devastated the lives of many people and sparked a war. Though the patriotism since then has severely died down, everything rushed back to me when I turned on the History Channel yesterday. (I had to stop watching after a bit due to commercials.)
I was in middle school when I first saw the towers burning, and a sick, sick feeling when they fell. This was a tragic event that shall never be forgotten, even if society tries to push it away and forget about it.
Just like Columbia...
You need to put everything into perspective.

Hmm... Yes, I was young. I would assume that a lot of people wouldn't remember back then.
That's something I didn't even consider. Like... who WOULDN'T remember seeing that?
It makes me feel old. (Yet I'm in my PRIME, not there YET.) So bizarre at the same time, thinking about having to grow up with all the patriotism, wars, propaganda and... George Bush...
That thought made me sick, I hate my 3 year old self, I hate when i was 5 too...
Why the self hate? What did you do and... hating your 3 year old self is like hating...
A 3 year old. What's up with that? And what thought made you sick?

I was a foreign student at a university in the US at the time. I was on campus, so I didn't actually see what happened - all I remember is the wide-spread panic once the news was announced and everyone was sent home. The whole day was as surreal as it could get.
I still wonder what was more damaging, the actual event or the nationwide xenophobia that followed. In the country, everyone who was not a US native was treated like a potential criminal. People abroad who didn't sympathize with the US were treated as an enemy of the world. We all know what happened afterwards. :/

I was in grade 6 when this happened (12) and I remember my mum waking me up at 6am in the morning saying look at this look at this, and watching it live. It was scary, and I still remember it really clearly and couldn't believe I was watching it. I'm not from the US at all, but Aus was rocked by this event as well.
Apparently though, not all US remember it as well as they should

Yes, that was bad. I don't think the behavior was bizarre as Rose said because it... it was a natural reaction. Understandable.
But what shocked me, even at the time, the same way that it still does, is how people let themselves be pulled into George Bush's propaganda machine. No one said anything about it and people should have been looking out for it more. It's ignorance at it's finest.
More than the prejudices against foreigners, fear against anyone who vaguely resembled someone from the middle east. ("My grandfather came to this country! My father was born a citizen and so was I! Why would I be a "terrorist!?" I VOTED FOR BUSH!")
No... the scariest thing out of the propaganda machine, the fear and, as mentioned, xenophobia... the scariest thing was the "patriot act." (Because it's patriotic to let George Bush take away your rights. You don't agree? WHAT ARE YOU A FREAKING COMMUNIST?!)
Fear of being investigated at the drop of a hat. The fear that law-abiding citizens could potentially have that status stripped from them, becoming criminals without even getting a trial. Fear of being a "terrorist."
It was like "big brother CAN watch you... only if you are middle eastern."
Apparently though, not all US remember it as well as they should

Although the only one on that interview who had any sort of sense... was the black dude on the question of "What religion were the attackers?"
"They were STUPID! They were some stupid Muslims or something."
Stupid is right...
Most of them other people though... seemed like crazies. :p

he he, yea, actually memory is very unreliable :p so it is understandable people may not remember on the spot about it. Everytime you remember something you are reconstructing an event of the past with your mind, and during this reconstruction things that werent there can be added, and things that were there can be taken away.
It's not that these people don't care about the event, it's just they don't remember the specifics... although getting the month wrong is kinda dumb XD
