Oh man, tell me about it. CN used to be awesome and have like zoids and cardcaptors, and now it has crap all. Same with Nickelodeon.... the only time worth watching Nick is when it's late night Nick and Invader Zim is on, along with Ren and Stimpy and all the awesome nineties Nicktoons they never show anymore because they are RETARDED IN THE FACE (Nickelodeon I mean, not the old cartoons).
Btw I have no idea what this thread is even about I haven't even heard of this. The picture reminds me of Spongebob -_-

I like the Rugrats and Hey! Arnold alot better than Fairly odd-Parents and stuff I used to love Fairly Odd-Parents...but now it's just....well yeah...I miss Nick Gas and Legends of the Hidden Temple, and those shows...but now.....they have this...well.......this....

Also, chowder, flapjack, and adventure time are alright. Especially chowder, since the guy who voices fred created it. He also did story-boarding for spongebob, and a whole lot of other crap. When he does the story boards, you always know.

I have courage the cowardly dog, johnny bravo and samurai jack (season 1) all on DVD because I can. So I can relive those days whenever I want :p Also SHeep in the Big City was great.
Also they didn't put in I AM WEASEL. That cartoon was around the same time as those ones (even before Ed, Edd and Eddy and Sheep in the Big City), it started within Cow and Chicken but got its own show a little later.

Man, things like this are grim reminders of my ripe old age, lol.
I grew up when Popeye, Tom&Jerry, Loony Toons etc. were contemporary; the main show, not old classics tucked away in some short midnight snip.
I don't like the style and the humor in these newer cartoons. They're weird. :bunnighost:

Oh man I used to watch those Siam! Like when I was 5 and stuff D: I think I was watching them at the end of their time though, because I don't remember them being around when I was about 7 - 8 but I had them on video XD!! The main things I watched as a teen were things like zoids, invader zim, cardcaptors, samurai jack... and ones like courage and johnny bravo coz they were funneh :p I also liked AAHHH Real Monsters and Ren and Stimpy and the 90's Nick cartoons.
But yea the newer cartoons now I can't stand... like spongebob *shudder* the weird thing is my dad loves that show ._. ...

The creators of Spongebob originally wanted their cartoon to contain both adult humor and child humor, and the adult humor is usually not obvious, but it ended with the same fate with Shrek, it turned all cheesy and educational.

Toy Story an its predecessors have a good mix of adult and child humour, which is what surprised my friends and I when we went and saw number 3 at the movies - the fact it was just as enjoyable for us than it was for younger children. That would be a good example of adult and child humour working together. Spongebob .... no lol. Plain idiocy doesn't make a show funny, you need to add other elements.
Invader Zim has a lot of idiocy, but what makes it funny is that the idiocy is a satire of society as a whole, and ironically the only people who have any idea what is going on are the ones deemed crazy and stuff. In this way when I watch it, it's funny for me in a different way than it would be funny to a younger audience, which would think that the randomness for example is funny.

I won a large spongebob at a carnival in brisbane called the EKKA in my first year of uni. Just before me and Nick started going out actually. I was annoyed, so I gave it to my dad LOL!!! But it was better than winning nothing I suppose >_>

Oh god, I've been surrounded by people reminiscing about old cartoons so much! DX It's making me want to watch them again! Also, CN kinda stopped being awesome when they started recycling ideas (we all know that crap Johnny Test is just a role reversal Dexter's laboratory). God, I act like I'm not my actual age (the last good show that they were showing before I left them was Billy & Mandy, which only stopped being made in 2005). OH MY GOD I USED TO LOVE COURAGE! I always thought it was really weird, but I still loved it. Sometimes I think it may have helped me become the screwed up person I am today. There are quite a few much-loved shows that I haven't seen, which I really regret not seeing, but I can still always search for DVDs on the internet. That is, if I can do it without anybody knowing. *is embarrassed to admit liking cartoons in front of family*

Sadly, I heard a rumor before, like, in 2004 that they were going to stop showing Courage because the man who was the voice of Eustace died, but I said, "Oh HELL NAW" (When my mother heard me saw that, she put friggin chili in my mouth <_< )
I love Billy and Mandy, but I friggin hated CN for not showing it anymore, then I starting watching spanich novelas ._.'

To be honest, I didn't think Courage was a very good show. I mean, it was interesting sometimes but I liked other old shows better.
Actually, I grew up with the 4Kids until it went bad because CN was not functional anymore on my television.

Real Monsters and Pingu, to name a few of my favourites XD Courage was probably more into the second gen of cartoons that I went through when I first got Austar (pay TV) with CN, along with Zoids, Cardcaptors and Samurai Jack and Dragon Ball Z. It wasn't long after those shows that I found cartoons just started getting worse. Nowadays I don't watch cartoons that much but I occasionally pick up a DVD from JB Hi Fi of some old cartoons, or just torrent some like zoids (which isn't available in Australia). As for what I do watch if I ever switch on these channels when I'm at my parents - Billy and Mandy is still on and also Invader Zim is on late at night on Nickelodeon along with Ren and Stimpy and I think AAAAHHH Real Monsters was also shown at some point late at night as well. Goes to show how much I actually watch Austar, and when I do I prefer the Discovery and NAt Geo channels anyway.
