Ok, how about this for rules: 3 stock, no items, no time limit, if both players can decide on a stage, then they can choose what the want, otherwise, you have to play on final destination.

Let's make the tournament this Saturday. We can come up with a date later. I can get a block made to decide opponents.

Since we only have 6 people we will have three one on one matches than a 3 way rumble. We can keep looking for people until we have 8 and then do it regular tourney style but this works for now.

well, we really don't have to make it a specific date, we just cut off joining Saturday or whenever, assign matches, and then the players in the matches figure out when they can play. After the matches they report back and new matches are assigned.
But if everyone can play on the same day, then even better.
