So I don't know if many of you know about this game, Guild Wars, but a trailor for GW2 was just released a few days ago. It looks to be a wicked game that will help the destruction of WoW commence!

In the trailor all the visuals were taken from inside the game, except the cartoony stuff. So just imagine how stunning the whole game will look! I played GW and I can tell you these guys are amazing with story and gameplay has also been vamped up from their awesome gameplay.

I used to play guild wars, but now I can't even remember my account X.x I wonder if I should get back into it... Any who this sounds exciting, Is there new classes or any uber updates that we know of yet?

Guild wars was better than WoW but had no fanbase... and if you didn't play for a few weeks you got so inundated with patches that it just wasn't worth it. Doubt that GW2 will even make a dent in the market with WoW there, even if it is the better game. Blizzard pretty much have the market for those games, and are pretty high up for RTS games as well (although there is some strong competition).
In any case I'm not buyin' it. Never really liked these kinds of games anyway and SC2 looks sooooo much better XD

Also, watching it again did you notice it shows NONE of the actual gameplay, just the pretty scenery. All the video is showing is 'hey look this game has a storyline and pretty graphics' it doesn't actually show any battles and barely any of the actual races or classes and what they can do. Just tells you the story and shows off it's graphics.

GW had a huge fan base... If you didn't know. The start may have been a little slow but if you were to go on the game today you would see every town on the game filled with people (enough to make you lag like hell sometimes), not to mention the other people out actually playing it.

The reason for no gameplay is thats how most of their trailors will work untill the game gets closer to launch. They aren't even talking about gameplay in interviews and such, so why would they put it in that trailor? All you can find about gameplay is, they totally revamped it to make it better, and you can jump/swim and such.


To explain new races and classes, there are 4 new non-human playable classes, the Charr (if you played GW then you know who these are), the Norn, Asura, and Sylvari. You can still be humans but these are the new ones. No info on classes has been released... :(

And riida its almost impossible to get a virus from this game, first of all you get the game in form of a CD... so no downloading!

Well if its an online game, and it has bad security, hackers might make you download fake patches or other stuff.

Trust me! It's one of the safest games you will play, hacking that game would be hard as heck.

The thing is... about the fan base is GW had to create theirs from scratch, whereas Blizzard has already had several successful games. That's why GW failed and went into the backseat of the MMORPG market. Despite what you argue about GW's fanbase, WoW's fanbase will always be > than GW's. Bet you anything you like WoW will launch their expansion pack when GW2 comes out and will get put in the backseat of the market again. But hey I'm not ripping on GW2 so don't get all defensive about it I'm just stating why GW kinda failed in comparison to WoW. I even admit GW was the better MMORPG it just DID NOT have the initial fanbase for it to do very well. Everyone knows WoW, but how many actually know about GW, or have heard about it. Chances are if you aren't a gamer you would probably be like what the hell is GW? Whereas EVERYONE, even my parents, know about WoW and my parents are the most computer illiterate people ever.
Also, I still maintain the trailer is just pretty graphics, but SC2's graphics look way better and they have actual gameplay. If you're gonna make a trailer at least make it a little better than an ambiguous plot and a bunch of scenery. I mean quite literally that trailer did not make me want to go and find out more about the game, and that is what trailers are supposed to do. So what if it has good graphics, so does every other new and upcoming game.
I'm sorry I've only seen GW a few times, so I don't know the races, and don't really wanna go look 'em up either, and MMORPG's bore me to nuts anyway. It's on par with the sims, except you're not playing a simulator of real life, you're just living in a fantasy reality.

Thats gonna happen to EVERYTHING. Is why i want somoene to shut down WoW....Actually the first time i heard about gw was on this forum, so...^^

I first saw GW in a game store (video games of course), but it didn't make me buy it. They do commercials????? I never knew that.
