Ah lame >_> Well Marvel is going to change completely now D= And they put out a few good movies (as well as several bad ones but eh) - same with Disney.
It will be interesting to see if Disney makes Marvel better or worse... personally I only thought a handful of Marvel's movies were any good but eh, I'm not really into comics either.
Just as long as Disney doesn't try to add too much cutsie to the action heros of marvel it should be all good.

Actually it won't be too different. 'Buying' a company most time doesn't mean replacing the creative crew. So you still find your original comic makers and such, just theirs boss are changed now. Most time it doesn't means a change on the products.

Yeah...
Can't say I'll miss it. I don't agree with the whole "superhero" thing. In fact I hate the super hero thing... I hope it goes away. I just don't get it. Either way you can bet that Disney will start making cartoons of superhero characters to replace the crap that's on their station now... heh.
I hope it gets ruined. :p

Not much for stuff like that either, I just like the x-men that isnt a cartoon (if the xmen isnt part of marvel, i dono pretty much anything bout marvel.)

Companies can change though when they are brought by others. For example RARE, the creators of Donkey Kong Country. I forget who bought them, I think Microsoft, but either way they suck so much now in comparison to how good they used to be when they made games for Nintendo.

DC is another comic company. Marvel has... X-Men, Spiderman, The Hulk, Iron Man. DC has Superman, Batman, Teen Titans, Minutemen, etc.
Pirate Foxes
09-10-2009, 11:35 PM
...Teen Titans...
Is that considered a LEGIT superhero thing now?
That's like Justice League or whatever.
It doesn't really "count."

Marvel seems to be characterized by more realistic heroes, i.e. most of them are explained by some science. Hulk has gamma rays, x-men are mutants, spiderman is also a mutant. DC has magic and very loosely explained stuff. The flash is fast because of the speed force or whatever it's called, wonder woman has magic junk, and stuff like that.

Though they say that DC villains have a higher chance of wining compared to marvel.

It's ALL a bunch of crap if you ask me. OMG WE GOT SUPRE POWRZ FROM RADS INSTEAD OF DEADLY BURNS AND SKIN BUBLES1 LET FIGHT. Instead of "magic" the X-Men have "mutations." What kind of mutations? Oh right, the "magic" kind. ;)
How is that in the least bit realistic? The only one that's realistic is Batman, hence why he's so popular. (Ninjas FTW!)
You want some good comics?
Read up on Hergé's work. (Or rather, Georges Remi)
Tintin pw3nz all comics. Always. Ever. :D

No shut up and WATCH the comics?
OKAY! :p
The Teen Titans, also known as The New Teen Titans, New Titans, or The Titans, is a DC Comics superhero team. As the group's name suggests, its membership is usually composed of teenaged superheroes.
Yeah um... let me buy those comics REAL quick.

Don't mock magic, it's real, humans just don't have the physiology to use it.
Pirate Foxes
09-11-2009, 04:40 AM
Oh I know that much... And I dare say that humans CAN use it...
It's just looked down upon.
Er I mean... um... no there is no such thing as magic or any other form of energy that allows such things to exist within the universe.

X-Men aren't mutated by any magical means, unless genetics are magical (which I wouldn't disagree with anyone who argued that DNA is a magical thing). I was always under the belief that X-Men were mutants because a significant jump in human evolution changed their genetics somehow that allowed them to do crazy stuff. That is a semi-plausible scientific explanation, although not a very good one.
I never read the actual comics though only got this belief from the first x-men movie, but I know how moviemakers often change the storyline significantly so correct me if I am wrong.

They are magical mutations...

whether they seem magical or not they are explained as a genetic evolutionary 'leap' in the human genome... which is what I think Cthulhu is trying to say is that Marvel attempts to say how things occur in a scientific way, rather than a fantastical way.

Cthulhu, here I will make it simpler: pseudo-world.
I mean really, anything that is perceived differently by at least one person has no ONE truth. Therefore the world as we see it is false.

Mutations can't give you super powers.......
I mean why don't birds the size of a Boeing-747 fly around??
Wouldn't those mutations be able to do that??
[Okay maybe there should be some room for imagination,(Like batman) ]

09-23-2009, 10:37 PM
Hurrahhhhh
It is odd to think that the way we perceive the world is dictated to us by the way our brains are wired. It is an interesting thing.
And monster I am not saying that mustations give one superpowers, we are talking about marvel's explanations of how they get superpowers, whether they are true or not. Marvel takes a rather scientifical approach to their explanations, just because they aren't correct doesn't mean they aren't scientific, they are just science fictional scientific.

Meh, Mutations could give you "Super Powers" A mutation in your senses could lead to you seeing color while you hear sounds or other things. Very useful to detect enemy movement and silence them...

09-23-2009, 10:42 PM
There is something already like that... it's called synaesthesia. For example seeing symbols of alphabets as being coloured a certain colour, or associating words with taste. it is similar but not the same, although I think some synaesthesics would see colour on a musical transcript. Some musical artists have this, and they use it to make great songs.

In real life you don't see giant birds flying around because:
1. Mutations in dna are incredibly small changes.
2. Even though these changes are very small, they usually reek havok in other parts of the creature.
3. A bird with this type of mutation would never live long enough to learn to fly because it wouldn't be able to obtain enough food to survive. The few that do survive most likely contribute the the sightings of "thunder birds" and other giant birds of prey in native legends and more recent sightings.
4. ????
5. Profit.
