Games capture our imagination not only with cool graphics and stories, but also with their music and songs. And just like graphics inspires fan art, and stories inspire fanfic, game music inspires... well, fan-music. :)

Below you'll find a few some game-based songs I've played and recorded for your listening pleasure. ;)

Gerudo Valley Theme (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=19&pos=10) (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

Yoshi's Island Level 1 Theme (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pos=0), (Super Mario World)

Treasure Trove Cove Theme (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pos=1) (Banjo Kazooie)

Koopa Village theme (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=46&pos=9) (Paper Mario)

Suteki Da Ne - Kilika version (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=19&pos=3) (Final Fantasy X)

Trabia Garden Theme (http://thaiwonders.com/art/gallery/displayimage.php?album=19&pos=2) (Final Fantasy VIII)

Tools of the trade: a Yamaha PSR530 I carry pretty much everywhere; a grand piano that I don't carry anywhere (only used it when I played in Europe); some make-shift microphones and Cool Edit Pro for cleaning up and arranging the recordings.

Ahhh mah Gawd awesomeness siam!

Love Gerudo Valley, def one of my favourite LoZ songs! I have a music program called Finale... I made some crappy little song on it once, but it's crap :P even though nick thinks its the best ever but it isn't. It's on newgrounds anyway.

I'm glad you like it, Screwball. :) Yes, the original Gerudo theme is my favorite too.

[...] even though nick thinks its the best ever but it isn't. It's on newgrounds anyway.

Link to it please; I'd like to listen. :)

I've heard of Finale, my wife had an earlier version of it too. I can't use it since I can't read or write notes. Which reminds me... do you have any recordings of you playing the trumpet? ;)

Actually I do.... well of the big band I was in but there are some trumpet solos in the songs that are mine. Unfortunately the cd is at my parents place so can't upload any songs atm (Might be able to at some future point in time however)
Also I guess I can link it D= It's only a short loop about a minute or so long...

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/241169 here's the link... should be called Dayze. It isn't that great :$

You are way too humble! :) Nick is right: it's a nice piece of music, and I'm listening to it the third time already. ^_^

I would be happy if I could make music like this with Finale! I also envy your courage to upload music that you compose by yourself. I upload only covers, as you can see... ;)

Well I was really anxious uploading it, but it has had 2 dl's so far.. so it isn't completely horrendous XD lol I'm glad you like it though. It takes ages for me to make even a minute long song (several hours).
I dunno sometimes I make up random songs in my head and I was fast enough to get this one down... isn't exactly how I planned it though... XD

Wow, wonderful musics Siam! Now I just wish they all fall into one player that will continuously play next songs.

I don't make music since I don't have the tools and well, I already took a lot of umm 'skill sets'/'hobby set'.

I loved though, hearing to musics people make. Occasionally I recruit musicians I know for composing music for my games. I think I will share about them.

My first artist is named Hiptomas, he played grand piano compositions for hatchlings 1. He dissapear into college business now, right after he buy a keyboard.

Second one is Helen Trevillion (http://faefly-records.co.uk/amongtheivorystars/?page_id=558), I found her from game desert bridge. She is very talented fairy goddess, now she composing music for movie. I feel bad that the project that use her song (hatchlings 2) is now lay untouched. ** her site at the moment is down, try this link: http://www.soundclick.com/helentrevillion

Today I use the work of Jorgeous (http://www.jorgeous.com/), which I found from game making community. I like that his work is fast, if I request a song, he will finish it in 3 days.

I do, but I never get my fictions into publisher. I don't recall but I think I ever make a fantasy movel of 300 pages in a full month.

So, you mean that you never show them? Or they never accept them?

Never show them. Doesn't worth the work too. Having your book published here is not career, it is hobby with connection. If you make best seller, then you make a career.

When you get older.. you got less time for sole hobbies :) .

Well. if you think it is worth it for other people to see, you still want to publish some.

I publish them on games now so I don't have to rely on publishers :) .

Thanks, Madi - I'm glad you like 'em. :)

My friends and I used to play a game with these music pieces. I'd play and upload the songs, and they'd tell the title and where it is from. It was fun; we've played for monhts and they've solved 24 songs like that. :) Well, 22, because there were two left that were apparently too obscure.

So maybe you guys know them better... If you want to try, here they are. Just listen and then write here the title and where the is song from, originally. (To get an idea of what I'm looking for, check the first page of this post for the title/origin of the songs already posted.)

Rose, if the short stories on Amethyst Orchard are an indication of your literary style, I'd love to read longer works of yours. :) Too bad that the art form is not really appreciated in Indonesia... and I guess being a woman there doesn't help either. :(

Yes, I got some longer ones but most are not finished there. 'otherkin' perhaps my best that I put there and hack infinite finished in 6 chapters sort of.

Art is something hard to embrace as work anywhere unless you modify them to application. Unless some lucky people, a lot struggles from zero to improve their art skills and that took time, which means money. I'm not sure what relate between being woman and art though if you mean I should be able to rely my financial on sort of family/ husband... well I hate rely on others :) .

The second one sounds like something from a zelda minigame place but I could be wrong. The first one also sounds familiar but I have no idea >_< Matching songs and titles has never been my forte

LOL, far from it! ;)

From a story of yours ("Pathetic"), I've got the impression that women in Indonesia still face difficulties when it come to career options. Is it really expected that they set aside their dreams and ambitions in order to become the housewife of a rich guy? If so, that could pose additional difficulty for becoming a professional writer - a difficulty that men don't have to face there. That's what I meant. :)

Of course it could be that you wrote that just for the sake of fiction, but somehow I feel there is some reality to it...

Thanks for trying, and no worries. :) Remember, these songs are the ones that were so obscure that my friends couldn't figure them out, even after solving 22 others! Especially the first one, that European users might be more familiar with. Your guess about the second one is close; the tune comes from a setting that's just as light-hearted and fun as a Zelda minigame place. But it's from a somewhat different source... ;)

Yes it is reality of most woman here, especially at villages. I myself constantly need to close my ears against neighborhood whispers and jokes around 'not having a boyfriend'. Actually, I wrote that story after having a dream around the first paragraphs, and it is after reading teen ink :) . The book actually stab me on the fact of those old days: I want to be myself but I still rely on people.

I feel so lucky to be living in aus, you always hear stuff like this that happens in other countries and I feel so... angry about this. I'm like you and I hate relying on other people, I like to forge my own way and my own life (and this is often problematic especially for my parents trying to control my impulsiveness when I was younger, I liked to do what I wanted). I cannot immaging what it would be like to only be expected to be nothing more than a housewife, and I would hate it more than anything.

I know you would do a good job at ignoring this :p Besides, you do have a boyfriend, your computer!! Jokes aside, when you find someone I hope they will be as special as you. And don't forget to whip him into line :p (this is very important!!!). He's a keeper if he lets you do what you want :D

Welcome to the club, Rose. ;)

I hope you'll find a way to be completely self-reliant and independent. You are determined, so it's only a question of when it will happen - with or without a boyfriend. ;)

Despite what they say, it's fine to be alone. I've lived alone for a very long time too. I pity those who marry for convenience, or to satisfy the community around them. It's not real, just a cheap masquerade.

So feisty, haha. You remind me of my sister. ;)

Yeah, it kinda sucks to be born into the wrong country. One has to either conform, or face a constant unhappiness - or leave to find a better place. ^_^ I just realized that this year marks a decade since I've left home, for similar reasons. Wow, time flies!

Hehe... does Nick read this? :p

screwbaII

Yea, he does, dunno about this thread though :p but he knows he's whipped. Nah, not really, he doesn't like making me unhappy so he does everything I want :D and yea I kinda reject anything to do with conventional housewife stuff. My flatmate does all the cooking, we take turns washing up I do the clothes washing and he takes out the bins so the jobs are pretty even you could say.

Nice replies here :) . Don't worry Siam, if just about my own expenses, I can live alone anytime. Though now that father getting old and little brother only need three years to complete his high school, I want to make more and support my family. At the moment, because I constantly help parents with monetary issue, they had learned to not talking about issues that will make me yells: marriage and boyfriend.
