Nothing on tv right now, and there's not much else to do, so do any of you want to play a game? Starcraft, ssbb, and a bunch of random ds games with wifi is what mostly comes to mind. If you've got time I probably have the game, so If you're also bored just make a suggestion and I'll let you know if I have it.

Other stuff I haven't played in a while and just thought of: Gary's mod.

zlyfire
08-29-2009, 11:36 PM
yea. on Wi-Fi or any multiplayer game on it has almost nothing to do with the game. u grap triforce peices and bring them to your base if your link while your opponent is the ghosts and tries to kill you. it switches when time runs out or link is defeated.

YniYni

God, Cthulhu's not a god, he's just a demigod.

Riida
09-02-2009, 02:48 AM
Dont insult my god, RAWR!!!!!!!!!! *summons c't's power to smite Mm*

Cthulhu
09-02-2009, 04:08 AM
The term god implies absolute power, but no being is truly absolute, everything must abide by some laws, they just may not be the laws of the current universe. So these beings appear to do things that can't normal be done, like pluck people from reality, when really all that is happening is that they are moving in a higher dimension that can be detected by those people.

I'm not in the smiting business right now, I'm just here to observe.

Here have some philosophical insight about the existence of a God (Christian God)

Premise: If it can be conceived in the mind, it can be conceived in reality
Premise: Nothing is greater than God (Bible)
Premise: Reality is greater than the imagination

Based on these 3 premises (this is an actual philosophical argument for the existence of the Christian 'God')

God can be conceived in the mind, and since to exist in reality is greater than to exist only in the mind, and nothing is greater than God, and since if it can be conceived in the mind, it can exist in reality, then God must also exist in reality.

This of course is a shortened version of the ACTUAL argument (and I did this course over a year ago so it's hard to remember these things :p)

Another philosophical argument for the non-existence of God:

Premise: The greater the handicap of the creator, the greater the creation
Premise: God created the universe
Premise: The universe is the greatest creation

Therefore if the universe is the greatest creation, then God would have to have the greatest handicap of all - which is to not exist at all.

he he he confusing isn't it. Of course these are VERY simplified arguments of philosophy and a brief outline of what they are :P They are of course much more detailed (and you kinda have to state where the premises come from, however I cannot remember these details).

Anyway I'm agnostic so I don't really care about whether any super-being exists or not (from any religion, these examples were only about the Christian biblical God however). I prefer the science of the mind and the brain and how we are able to conceive such things as philosophy and religion :p

This reminds me of another forum, where everything gets off topic and turns into a debate about philosophy or physics, and occasionally cheese. It's fairly entertaining.

My belief is that every person has their own individual god residing over them depending on their morals and ideas, and that the ultimate goal of a being is to become their own god.

Everything exists in reality only because it has to, and because people could not experience a universe that does not exist, because that is the realm of gods and imagination, a place that mortals can not exist in.

It can't be proven, just like everything else. As long as someone doubts it isn't fact.

And I think I'll play starcraft later if anyone else can.

Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_entity) created by horror author H. P. Lovecraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft) in 1926, first appearing in the short story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_story) "The Call of Cthulhu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Call_of_Cthulhu)" when it was published in Weird Tales (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weird_Tales) in 1928.

It's certainly possible that I inspired him to create those stories.

Perhaps this should stop now, if you want to discuss philosophical craziness, you should probably open another thread.

Religion is for fools. Those who can not comprehend their world so they must relate their inhibitions to a "higher power."

I am what I consider myself to be a "literalist." IN THAT I concern myself as little as possible with the spiritual and metaphysical. Not only do I not concern myself with those abstract presences of reality, but I also STRIVE to keep such thoughts out of my mind as a whole. And with such religious ideals freely floating through our societies, angels, ghosts and demons alike, it is a very difficult thing to do.

I am not amoral. My life will not fall into chaos because I don't follow the Christian belief system. (It fell into chaos when I DID believe in a religion to begin with!) I have what is called "honor." At least I would like to think that I do. Being a literalist does NOT mean "I can do whatever I want." The... Corps taught me morals and the importance of morals. It doesn't take a set religion for you to understand the importance of not having immoral sex (AIDS and STDs) or of "laying with another man" *cough* due not only to the lol'able social aspects of such acts but also for the physical aspects...
(Hemorrhoids anyone!? Yee-ha!)

I am not saying that "God" or "gods" do not exist in a spiritual or very physical way. I am saying that I do not concern myself with such things, ever. I take any form of spirit or demon or what have you, and relate it to my life and physical wellbeing. Saying it is a projection from my mind as a way of dealing with things in my life, aka stresses, whether physical or social, rather than actually thinking "OMG REL GHOST!1 lol pray 2 GOD."

I have found that making yourself not believe in these things is harder than actually devoting your life to a real religion... now how does THAT work?

EDIT:

OH okay... so you all kiss and make up while I slave away typing out a long explanation of my beliefs. :P
